Technical Trainee - System Test

This role involves supporting the development of autonomous driving technologies. Key responsibilities include creating reference data from lidar and camera acquisitions, calibrating sensors on test vehicles, performing technical benchmarking of new sensors, preparing and managing laboratory measurement setups, participating in test drives and data collection in the field, and supporting R&D teams with measurement system deployment and configuration.

Must Have

• Student or recent graduate in a technical field (e.g., Mechatronics, Robotics, Cybernetics)
• Proficiency in Python, C++, C
• Fluent in English for international team communication
• Driving license B (if participating in field vehicle testing)
• Knowledge of sensor calibration principles (intrinsic and extrinsic) and signal processing
• Practical hardware skills (soldering, minor mechanical work in the lab)

Good to Have

• CANOE, CAPL experience
• CATIA experience

Right now, we are looking for a motivated technical student or recent graduate to join our team to participate in the development of autonomous driving technologies.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support for reference data creation (Ground Truth Extraction): You will dive into the acquisition and processing of lidar and camera data. Your goal will be to create reference data against which autonomous driving algorithms are tested.
• Sensor calibration: You will adjust sensors on test vehicles and look for new, more efficient methods for their perfect synergy. You will become a specialist in intrinsic and extrinsic calibration.
• Benchmarking: You will perform technical benchmarking and detailed analysis of the performance of the latest sensors on the market, so that we always choose the best for our projects.
• Hardware work in the laboratory: You will be responsible for the preparation and management of measuring assemblies. You will integrate hardware, perform mechanical modifications and occasionally solder something.
• Test drives and data collection in the field: You will participate in testing on our polygon in Milovice and in real traffic, where you will collect key data for further development.
• Support for development projects: You will be a key partner for our R&D teams, helping them deploy and configure measurement systems exactly according to their needs.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• You are a student or recent graduate of a technical university (e.g., Mechatronics, Robotics, Cybernetics, Applied Physics, Measurement, or Radioelectronics).
• Programming skills: Python, C++, C (CANOE, CAPL an advantage).
• Experience with CAD software (CATIA an advantage).
• English: The ability to communicate in English is a must for daily communication in an international team.
• Driving license B: If you want to participate in vehicle testing in the field.
• You are a communicative team player who is open to learning.
• You are interested in the automotive industry, autonomous driving, and sensor technologies.
• You like robotics, drones, you know about the sensors they use: You know what lidar is, and you are familiar with the principles of sensor calibration (intrinsic and extrinsic), signal processing.
• You are not afraid of HW, you are practical - you can solder or you are not afraid of minor mechanical work in the laboratory.
