Job Description

Oura is seeking a Test Engineer to join their Hardware Sensor Validation Team in Oulu, Finland. This role involves contributing to hardware validation projects for Oura Ring's sensors, advancing wearable technology, and ensuring high quality in sensor performance and reliability. The engineer will work hands-on with sensor technologies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure signal quality across different sensor domains.
Good To Have:
  • Studied or have knowledge of human physiology and physiological signals
  • Knowledge about test automation and test automation tools
  • Experience in hardware testing and debugging, including software interface
Must Have:
  • Execute sensor validation cycles for Oura’s next-generation hardware products
  • Ensure signal quality across different sensor domains
  • Contribute to the development of new test methods and tools for evaluating physical and physiological signals
  • Analyze sensor data and performance, applying advanced data analysis
  • Develop new methods to extract actionable insights
  • Conduct hands-on testing in both lab and real-world field environments
  • Identify issues and drive root cause investigations
  • Deliver clear, data-driven reports and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders
  • B.Sc or M.Sc degree in biomedical engineering or a relevant field
  • Experience in Python for test development and data analysis
  • Some experience in analog / digital level signal processing
  • Knowledge about electronics and embedded systems
  • Innovative mindset with a strong interest in the latest sensor technologies
  • Self-driven and diligent, with the ability to work independently
  • Present results confidently to stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration skills, able to work effectively in a team
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and an analytical approach to technical challenges
  • Good written and spoken English

We’re looking for a Test Engineer to join our Hardware Sensor Validation Team in Oulu, Finland. In this role, you’ll contribute to hardware validation projects focused on the Oura Ring’s sensors and play a key part in advancing our cutting-edge wearable technology. You’ll work hands-on with the latest sensor technologies and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Science, Hardware Engineering, and Embedded Software—to ensure the highest quality in sensor performance and reliability.

This is an on-site position based in Oulu.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute some areas of sensor validation cycles for Oura’s next-generation hardware products, ensuring signal quality across different sensor domains.
  • Contribute to the development of new test methods and tools for evaluating physical and physiological signals (e.g., motion, optical,, thermal).
  • Analyze sensor data and performance, applying advanced data analysis and developing new methods to extract actionable insights.
  • Conduct hands-on testing in both lab and real-world field environments, identifying issues and driving root cause investigations.
  • Deliver clear, data-driven reports and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders

Qualifications

We would love to have You on our team if you have following:

  • B.Sc or M.Sc degree in biomedical engineering or in a relevant field of study
  • Experience in Python for test development and data analysis.
  • Some experience in analog / digital level signal processing
  • Knowledge about electronics and embedded systems
  • Innovative mindset with a strong interest in the latest sensor technologies.
  • Self-driven and diligent, with the ability to work independently and present results confidently to stakeholders.
