Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.

Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.

We are looking for a Research Coordinator to join our Research Operations team, which drives the end-to-end execution of studies that enable new feature development and validation. You’ll help run the human research studies that form the foundation of our R&D work—ensuring that each study runs smoothly, on-time, and with high quality data.

In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience with every part of the research lifecycle: from protocol development and participant recruitment to data collection and monitoring. Working closely with our hardware, product, and science teams in the San Francisco office, you’ll help translate cutting edge science into real-world products.

This is a US hybrid role based in our San Francisco office. Due to the hands-on nature of the work, we are looking for candidates that are available to work onsite at least three days per week.

What you will do:

  • Contribute to multiple projects developing Oura’s sensing capabilities by conducting in-person data collections, deploying hardware, supporting research operations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Become an expert on both the data collection capabilities of the Oura Ring, as well as relevant reference devices and tools through first-hand testing
  • Ensure data collections run smoothly, efficiently, and according to protocol
  • Manage equipment inventory, ensuring devices are organized and ready for use
  • Pursue continual improvements to team processes and tools through creation and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Implement and upload human subjects research best practices following Good Clinical Practice (GCP)

We would love to have you on our team if you have any of the following, but don’t worry too much if you don’t fill all the requirements:

  • Bachelors in Psychology, Health Science, Exercise Science, Human Biology, Cognitive Science, Public Health, Data Science, or related interdisciplinary fields
  • 1+ year of full-time experience in either hardware testing or human studies research in academic, commercial, or clinical settings (e.g. consent, IRB approval, and data flows)
  • Strong track record of delivering high-quality datasets with meticulous documentation
  • Experience problem-solving, adapting, and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented mindset and experience in working with both internal and external research teams, e.g. data or clinical scientists, principal investigators, vendors, administrative and legal collaborators
  • Recent (within past two years) Human Subjects/Good Clinical Practice training, e.g. CITI training
  • Willingness to work flexible hours for global team calls (including Finland time zones) and occasional work-related travel (domestic & international) for site visits or meetings

We also appreciate if you have familiarity with the following:

  • Wearable devices or remote patient monitoring
  • Multi-modal and sensor data
  • Python, SQL, Github
