Join Thales on the Vélizy campus, a hub for diverse activities including aerospace, defense, and civil sectors. As an Armaments Systems Project Manager, you will lead a cross-functional team for two development and production projects within the VTS France domain, focusing on Thales effectors, rockets, and ammunition. A significant part of your role will involve building offers for the advanced systems sector, which you will then manage as projects. You will be responsible for project execution, monitoring, and control, ensuring client satisfaction and adherence to contractual commitments.

Must Have:
  • Establish and maintain the project's technical and non-technical requirements repository
  • Ensure compliance with contractual commitments (technical, financial, calendar) and client satisfaction
  • Manage the contract in close collaboration with the legal department and the client
  • Pilot risks and opportunities with the team
  • Lead project progress meetings with technical and work package managers
  • Provide project reporting to the client (schedules, deliverables) and manage associated contractual aspects
  • Conduct project reviews and report progress to top management
  • Collaborate with Technical and Industrial Competence Centers and the Product Line Manager
  • Experience in project and offer management
  • 4-5 years of experience in managing medium-complexity projects and/or complex offers
  • Knowledge of the defense sector and the organization of the Ministry of Armed Forces
  • Fluent English

Within the VTS France domain, Thales develops and produces innovative complex systems around Thales effectors, rockets, and ammunition.

As Project Manager, you will lead a cross-functional team in accordance with Thales values, within the framework of two development and production projects. Furthermore, as part of the development of one of the "advanced systems" sector activities, a portion of your activity will be dedicated to building offers for the VTS France domain's offers department, offers that will then become projects that the position holder will manage.

As such, you are responsible for the execution, monitoring, and control of the projects under your responsibility until their closure, in particular you:

  • Set up and update the project's technical and non-technical requirements repository (Project Structure, Description of work packages, contractual data for clients, partners and suppliers, costs, budgets and financial structure, planning integrating workload and resource allocation)
  • Are responsible for meeting contractual commitments to the client, both technical, financial and calendar, and guarantee their satisfaction
  • Manage the contract in close liaison with the legal department and the client
  • Manage risks and opportunities as a team
  • Conduct project progress meetings with the technical product manager, work package managers and all departments contributing to client satisfaction
  • Ensure project reporting to the client, schedules and deliverables, as well as associated contractual management
  • Conduct project reviews and report project progress to the entity's top management based on criticality.

To do this, you work in close collaboration with the Technical and Industrial Competence Centers through the project work packages of your WBS, and in collaboration with the Product Line Manager of the products concerned who ensures their consistency and with the support of support services.

Your profile

Holder of an engineering degree or a Bac+5 level qualification, you have experience/skills in:

  • Project and offer management
  • Experience (4-5 years) in managing projects of medium complexity and/or complex offers
  • Knowledge of the defense world and the organization of the Ministry of Armed Forces to efficiently hold this position from the outset (military experience would be valuable)
  • A first project/offer experience with NATO defense clients would be appreciated (e.g., DGA or program agency like OCCAR/NSPA)
  • Fluent English
