Role Overview: The Associate Designer for World Population is responsible for designing and implementing the population dynamics within the game world. This includes creating realistic NPCs (non-playable characters), defining their behaviors, interactions, and ensuring they contribute to the game’s immersive experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • NPC Design and Implementation:
  • Design diverse NPCs with unique characteristics, including appearance, behavior, and dialogue.
  • Implement NPCs into the game world, ensuring they interact naturally with players and other NPCs.
  • Behavior and AI Development:
  • Develop and script NPC behaviors using tools and scripts to create a believable and engaging game environment.
  • Work closely with AI programmers to implement realistic AI behaviors and responses.
  • World Population Balancing:
  • Manage the density and distribution of NPCs across different game areas, ensuring a balanced and engaging experience.
  • Adjust NPC placement and behavior based on gameplay needs and player feedback.
  • Integration and Testing:
  • Collaborate with other design teams to ensure NPCs fit seamlessly into the game’s world and narrative.
  • Test NPC interactions and behaviors to identify and resolve issues, ensuring a high-quality player experience.
  • Content Creation:
  • Create and maintain documentation for NPC design, including profiles, behavior scripts, and interaction models.
  • Develop content that supports the game’s story and world-building objectives.
  • Feedback and Iteration:
  • Gather feedback from playtesting and QA teams to refine and improve NPC designs.
  • Iterate on NPC features and behaviors based on feedback to enhance gameplay and immersion.
