*Pay Range: $150,000 - $175,000 USD annuallyPOSITION SUMMARY:The Director of Engineering will help manage and supervise the Engineering, Software, and Technical Operations teams for the New York office, CO3 Post and Method NY. The role will also include hands-on systems administration or software configuration or installation work, architecture design and high-level systems analysis and troubleshooting. This role reports to VP of Engineering/Technology. MAIN DUTIES:The Director of Engineering is responsible for supervising the Systems Engineering Team for CO3 New York office. They will participate in Technology planning for CO3 Post and Method NY, ensure that artists and shows are supported, and that downtime is minimal. They will contribute to the evaluation and potential technology vendors and partners and provide feedback to vendors as needed and help solve high level technical issues and inquiries, including SLA coverage. They will also be responsible for the following:- Deploy, manage, and support high-performance computing environment, specialized workstations and servers, large storage systems, network infrastructure and services.
- Implement root cause analysis to identify and correct system faults.
- Provide comparative analysis to management, documenting options, pros/cons etc.
- Work with Production and show supervisors to understand the operational and developmental priorities of current and upcoming shows.
- Communicate status and progress of Projects on a weekly basis.
- Work with global technology teams to make sure design or technical infrastructure development and operations are in sync.
- Take ownership, control, and continuously improve support services to maintain a high level of end user satisfaction.
- Create technical documentation.
- Analyze and tune systems for performance, throughput, resource utilization, high availability, and scalability.
WHAT YOU BRING:The ideal candidate will be well experienced in managing Production/Systems Engineers. They will have prior experience working in a Postproduction / VFX Technology Environment or Studio. They must have a solid understanding of operational processes and workflows for Post/VFX, and have an expert understanding of Systems Administration, Disk/Network Management. Additional desired skills include:- Thorough understanding of Pipeline Tools and developing technologies
- Ability to adjust on the fly and reprioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Strong written skills to write technical documentation.
- Ability to work weekends and nights when necessary.
