Job Description

CAE is seeking a Simulator Technician I to join their Technical Services team. The role involves learning and performing preventive maintenance on simulators and associated systems, assisting in diagnosing and correcting routine problems, and executing pre-flight and post-flight tasks. Responsibilities include running automatic Qualification Test Guides (QTGs), using a maintenance management system for tracking activities, completing designated training, and assisting with hardware modifications. The technician will also provide customer service support, handle logistics for parts, perform housekeeping, and manage administrative tasks. A 2-year technical degree or equivalent training and 0-2 years of simulator experience are required.
Must have:
  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent training
  • 0-2 years direct simulator experience
  • Proficiency in reading prints and schematics
  • Knowledge of analog and digital theory
  • Basic test equipment operation skills
  • Basic soldering and circuit board repair skills
  • Some knowledge of PCs and MS-Office

Technician I – Technical Services

Essential Job Functions

  • Learn and perform preventive maintenance tasks on the simulators and associated simulator systems. 
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting routine problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems. 
  • Perform pre-flight and post flight tasks on designated simulators. 
  • Perform basic visual alignments. 
  • Run automatic Qualification Test Guide (QTG). 
  • Utilize maintenance management system to record and track maintenance activities. 
  • Complete all designated training activities. 
  • Assist with refurbishment and hardware modifications.
  • Learn and comply with CAE quality management system.
  • Provide customer service support and address customer needs in a timely manner. 
  • Perform logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing/validation.
  • Perform housekeeping functions to maintain the simulators as required. 
  • Perform all administrative tasks as required. 

Education & Experience Requirements

  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent related training
  • 0-2 years direct simulator experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting prints and schematics
  • Knowledge of analog and digital theory
  • Basic skills in the operation of test equipment
  • Basic skills in soldering and circuit board repair
  • Some knowledge of PCs and MS-Office tools and suite
  • Motivated in customer support and attention to detail

Location

  • The primary work location for this position is at the Whippany, New Jersey Training Facility
  • Minimal travel may be required (less than 10%).
