As we continue to grow, we are now looking for a Graduate Level Designer to join our Casual games team in our Leamington spa, UK office.

As a Graduate Level Designer, you will design and implement game levels for our casual mobile games, ensuring fun and engaging gameplay. You will work closely with the development, user experience, and visual design teams and participate in playtesting, provide feedback, and improve workflows by designing tools. 

Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with game designers, artists, and developers to create game levels that fit the game's vision and aesthetic. 
    • Balance difficulty and pacing to ensure player retention and satisfaction. 
    • Maintain level design documentation and communicate plans to the development team. 
    • Use data analysis and player feedback to improve game levels. 
    • Participate in brainstorming sessions for new ideas. 
    • Stay updated on trends in casual mobile puzzle games and share insights. 
    • Balance and tune game mechanics and UI flow. 
    • Create levels and content using Unity. 
    • Drive player engagement by understanding player needs and motivations. 
    • Keep design documentation current to support development. 
    • Implement game designs using software tools.
    • Research emerging technologies to design relevant games. 
    • Report to the Lead Level Designer on relevant matters. 
    • Take ownership of tasks from proposal to delivery. 
    • Communicate task progress daily and identify time blockers. 
    • Prioritise daily/weekly tasks and comply with company procedures

Requirements

    • Relevant educational background in game design, level design or a related field is preferred 
    • Proven experience in level design, demonstrated through a portfolio of work (professional or personal projects).
    • Proficiency with level design tools, such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or other relevant software. 
    • Ability to translate game design goals and narratives into engaging level layouts and gameplay scenarios. 
    • Strong understanding of level design principles, player psychology, and pacing in video games. 
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members from different disciplines. 
    • Creative problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in crafting player-centric levels. 
    • A passion for games and a keen player’s perspective, with an understanding of diverse game genres and design challenges. 
    • Familiarity with scripting languages or visual scripting systems is a plus. 
    • Based in our office in Leamington Spa, following our hybrid model with 4 days per week on-site.
