Production Operator

Buckman Laboratories is located in Memphis, USA. Ghent (Belgium) houses the European headquarters, which includes both production and administrative centers. Buckman operates in over 80 countries and is a global leader in “specialty chemicals” for the Pulp & Paper Industry, Industrial Water Treatment, Leather Industry, and “Performance Chemicals”. In Ghent, we are currently looking for a:

Purpose

• Ensure smooth production activities.
• Produce chemicals and formulations according to SOP, safety, and environmental regulations.

Education Level

• Secondary education diploma or general secondary education.
• A2 chemistry, electricity, or mechanics

Experience

• Two to four years of related experience and/or training.
• 2 years of experience in chemical production is a plus.

Work Results

1) Participate in routine tasks

• Unloading products, both with forklift and bulk loads.
• Loading and unloading empty packaging and auxiliary materials.
• Operating production equipment, both manually and automatically.
• Filtering and draining products and finishing them correctly (e.g., labeling, sealing).
• Taking various samples for the lab.
• Cleaning various process equipment.
• Starting and shutting down kettles and all kinds of auxiliary equipment (e.g., steam boiler, TOK, cooling towers).
• Performing minor maintenance work.
• Actively participating in safety trainings.
• Becoming proficient in the use of various intervention materials. Always keep them accessible. Know the contents and use of the intervention vehicle.
• Keeping the premises, production area, and outbuildings clean, so that the factory is always in a state of order and cleanliness. This is regardless of the cause of the contamination. Participate in 5S rounds.
• Performing repackaging.

2) Prepare detailed reports

• Assist in filling out the shift report.

3) SHERQ management

• Comply with safety, environmental, and hygiene policies.
• Comply with quality (ISO9001) and environmental (ISO14001) standards.
• Comply with customer requirements.
• Participate in audits (internal and external).
• Participate in HAZOP studies and other risk analyses.
• Participate in incident investigations.
• Correctly execute SOPs.
• If necessary, request changes via MOC regarding installations, work methods, and SOPs.
• Report unsafe situations, actions, near misses.
• Strive for minimal influent Tk. 42.
• Strive for good housekeeping through 5S.
• Ensure good management of recovery containers.
• Ensure good management of finished product residues.
• Manage the various wastewater streams.
