The Project Manager will manage and collaborate with a team on various water and wastewater design projects. Key duties involve preparing technical documents, providing technical direction, coordinating with stakeholders, managing project scope, schedule, finance, and quality, and building client relationships. The ideal candidate will also assist in identifying opportunities and developing proposals.
Must have:
  • 6+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency
  • Serve as Project Manager on water/wastewater projects
  • Prepare technical memoranda and design calculations
  • Coordinate with discipline leads, clients, and agencies
  • Manage project scope, schedule, finance, and quality
Good to have:
  • 8+ years of water infrastructure design experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience with municipal projects
  • Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Manager with a focus in water/wastewater infrastructure design and in-depth design engineering experience in municipal conveyance, treatment, and pumping systems in our Chicago, IL office.

This role offers an opportunity to progress down the project management career path with a focus on client business growth, project delivery leadership and mentoring of engineering staff by leveraging top notch regional and national water/wastewater engineering expertise and capabilities. The appropriately qualified applicant will have the opportunity to manage and work with an established team of professional engineers on a variety of water, wastewater, and conveyance design projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as Project Manager on medium to large water/wastewater treatment plants and pump station projects
  • Prepares technical memoranda, planning studies and final design calculations, plans and specifications
  • Provides technical direction and mentorship for junior staff
  • Coordinates with other discipline leads, clients, consultants, and agencies in management and implementation of projects
  • Participates all aspects of project delivery, including scope, schedule, finance, and quality
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule
  • Builds and maintain relationships with clients and industry professionals
  • Assists in identifying opportunities, development of proposals and statement of qualifications

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS and 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of water infrastructure design experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) 
  • Experience working on municipal projects
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
