Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is seeking an experienced Senior Level Designer for The Witcher IV, an open-world RPG. The role involves owning entire locations, building complete experiences from pitching to implementation, ensuring cohesive placement within the open world, and creating memorable encounters. Responsibilities include designing, prototyping, iterating, and polishing in-game levels using proprietary tools and Unreal Engine 5, collaborating with various teams, and proactively suggesting gameplay improvements.
Must Have:
  • Design, prototype, iterate, and polish in-game levels using proprietary tools and Unreal Engine 5.
  • Craft unique spaces where gameplay flow and visual composition form memorable experiences.
  • Develop and work within predefined level metrics.
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure created levels enhance gameplay and narrative.
  • Cooperate closely with Designers, Artists, and Programmers for highest quality encounters.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to gameplay systems and principles.
  • At least 6 years’ experience as a Level Designer or in a similar role.
  • Experience with game editors, Unreal Engine, and/or 3D packages.
  • Extensive knowledge of current Action/RPG genre titles.
  • Excellent understanding of level design fundamentals.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to effectively communicate solutions.
  • Ability to create map layouts on all stages, from drawings to functional levels.
  • Ability to use all elements of the game world (geometry, texturing, lighting, sound, VFX).
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work within a team.
  • Fluent English.

Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for an experienced, talented and creative Senior Level Designer to join our team to work on The Witcher IV — the first game in a new Witcher series saga — to help us bring our ambitious vision of this new, open world RPG to life while pushing the bar for narrative-driven experiences ever higher!

The person in this position will be responsible for owning entire locations and building complete experiences from them in close collaboration with other disciplines: from pitching, planning and implementing location blockouts with a narrative focus in the editor using existing meshes and tools, to ensuring their cohesive placement and connection to other content within an open-world and also creating and balancing memorable encounters that will thrill and excite our players. Daily Responsibilities

  • Designing, prototyping, iterating on and polishing in-game levels, including level geometry, enemy encounters and other gameplay elements, using our proprietary tools and Unreal Engine 5.
  • Crafting unique spaces where gameplay flow and visual composition form memorable experiences.
  • Developing and working within predefined level metrics.
  • Working closely with other teams to ensure created levels contribute to and enhance the gameplay and game narrative.
  • Cooperating closely with Designers, Artists and Programmers to ensure the highest possible quality of encounters.
  • Proactively suggesting improvements to gameplay systems and principles.

Qualifications

  • At least 6 years’ experience as a Level Designer or in a similar role.
  • Experience with game editors, Unreal Engine, and/or 3D packages.
  • Extensive knowledge of current titles, specifically in the Action/RPG genre, as well as works of art, such as movies, architecture or visual arts, to be used as reference for crafting and communicating original ideas.
  • Excellent understanding of level design fundamentals and the role of level design in the overall player experience.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and an ability to effectively communicate solutions, as well as own and drive topics independently in a multi-disciplinary collaborative environment.
  • Ability to create map layouts on all stages – from simple drawings to fully functional levels in at least one of the existing game engines.
  • Ability to use all elements of the game world, including level geometry, texturing, lighting, sound and VFX to craft unique player experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills & proven ability to work within a team.
  • Fluent English.

Working mode

  • Office-First: working primarily from Warsaw, Cracow or Wroclaw studio for a minimum of 3 days a week.
