Summary

This Staff Software Engineer role at Google Kubernetes Engine AI Training focuses on designing, developing, testing, and deploying large-scale software solutions for training next-generation GenAI models. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership on high-impact projects, facilitating alignment across teams, driving the technical vision for Kubernetes evolution, and mentoring a team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development, data structures/algorithms, testing, launching products, and software design and architecture, along with expertise in AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX) and tools (Kubeflow, Ray.io, MLflow). Good to have:
  • Master's or PhD in relevant field
  • 3+ years technical leadership experience
  • Experience in a matrixed organization
  • MLOps experience in large-scale environments

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experiences with AI frameworks (e.g., Tensorflow, PyTorch, JAX), algorithms and tools(e.g., Kubeflow, Ray.io, MLflow).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
    • MLOps experience with large-scale distributed environments.
