Job Summary:
As a 3D Texturing Artist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality, hand-painted textures for a variety of 3D assets, including characters, environments, and props. You will work closely with our art and development teams to ensure that the textures align with the artistic vision and technical requirements of our stylized game. Your expertise in UV coordinate management, Substance Painter, and hand-painted texturing will be essential to your success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Texture Creation: Develop detailed and visually appealing hand-painted textures for various 3D assets using Substance Painter and other industry-standard tools.
- UV Mapping: Create and manage efficient UV layouts for 3D models to ensure optimal texture application and minimal distortion.
- Collaboration: Work closely with 3D modelers, riggers, and animators to ensure textures are applied correctly and meet artistic and technical standards.
- Terrain Painting: Design and paint terrain textures, ensuring they enhance the visual appeal and cohesiveness of the game world.
- Stage Painting: Paint and texture stages with an understanding of proportions and positioning, ensuring they look visually compelling from various camera perspectives.
- Artistic Input: Provide input and feedback on the artistic direction of projects, ensuring textures enhance the overall visual quality.
- Optimization: Optimize textures for performance without sacrificing quality, ensuring they meet the technical requirements of the project.
- Quality Assurance: Review and refine textures based on feedback from the art director and other team members.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of textures, materials, and other related assets.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in hand-painted texturing for stylized games.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Substance Painter and Adobe Photoshop.
- UV Mapping: Strong understanding of UV coordinates and layout optimization.
- Artistic Skills: Excellent understanding of color theory, shading, and lighting as they pertain to texture creation.
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail and a strong aesthetic sense.
- Communication: Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to take constructive feedback and collaborate effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and solve issues related to texturing and material application.
Plus Skills:
- Terrain Painting: Experience in painting and texturing terrain for stylized environments.
- Stage Painting: Understanding of proportions and positioning with reference to camera perspectives to create visually compelling stages.
