Job Title
AI Foundry Lead
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on AI Foundry Lead (Technical Lead) to join our Frontier AI foundRy team (FAIR) within Philips Data & AI Engineering organization, part of the global Innovation & Design (I&D) function.
This role will play a key part in exploring, architecting, and realizing next-generation AI capabilities — from experimentation to engineering maturity — enabling Philips’ businesses to accelerate innovation responsibly and effectively. This is a role for someone who thrives on experimentation, cross-functional collaboration, and translating strategic opportunities into tangible technical outcomes.
You will act as both a solution architect and technical lead, while also being a hands-on individual contributor who needs to;
- Setup and manage a virtual AI Agents team.
- Leverage the latest AI technologies, cloud services, and agentic frameworks to turn frontier ideas into scalable engineering solutions.
- See through "can be done" mindset to begin with.
- Be the jack of all trades as per need.
The Frontier AI foundRy team — a multidisciplinary innovation engine within Philips Data & AI Engineering — responsible for running exploratory sprints, co-developing proofs-of-concept with Philips Business Units (BUs), and building the AI capabilities that power Philips’ next generation of intelligent products and services.
You will report directly to the Head of Data & AI Business Operations and collaborate closely with other Frontier AI initiatives such as AI Impact Sprints, AI Launchpads, and co-creation with external partners (AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenAI, Nvidia, etc.).
Your Role:
- Lead and architect advanced AI capabilities from concept to implementation within the AI Foundry.
- Design, prototype, and scale AI systems leveraging cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern agentic frameworks.
- Translate stakeholder needs into clear, actionable technical work packages and execution plans.
- Partner with BUs, Markets, and Functions to identify high-impact use cases and accelerate AI adoption.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple initiatives — balancing experimentation, engineering rigor, and speed.
- Stay ahead of emerging AI, GenAI, and cloud trends to guide strategic technology decisions and inspire the team.
- Support co-creation of reusable capabilities and contribute to Philips’ AI engineering standards and lifecycle practices.
- Foster a culture of innovation, autonomy, and shared ownership — empowering team members to define how to achieve collective goals.
You’re the right fit if:
- You are a self-starter with strong ownership, able to operate from idea conception to working prototypes and production-scale systems.
- You enjoy bridging business needs and technical design, translating complex challenges into elegant engineering solutions.
- You thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving environment where experimentation and learning are core values.
- You have a deep curiosity for emerging AI technologies, cloud-native AI architectures, and multi-agent systems.
- You have an intrinsic motivation to experiment new technologies, stay abreast of the trends.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or AI system design.
- Proven experience architecting and implementing cloud-based AI solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong knowledge of AI frameworks, large language model integration, and AI agent orchestration.
- Solid understanding of microservices, API-based integration, and MLOps / LLMOps practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively across technical and business domains.
- Demonstrated ability to drive complex, cross-functional initiatives with limited oversight.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare-grade AI solutions or regulated product development (a strong plus).
- Familiarity with hyperscaler AI services (e.g., AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, GCP Vertex AI).
- Experience leading hackathons, innovation sprints, or internal accelerators.
- Understanding of AI lifecycle management and enterprise AI governance frameworks.
