The Merchant Strategy Division builds an ecosystem that enhances value for both users and merchants, driving business strategy, service development, and growth design across various sectors. This role focuses on planning and analyzing PayPay merchant services, including business plan modeling, market analysis, P&L formulation, and growth design using machine learning and AI. We are looking for a leader to drive the creation and growth of new services, contributing to business expansion and achieving overwhelming No.1 status.
Good To Have:

  • Experience in business plan formulation
  • Experience in modeling economics (service economics)

About the Work

Introduction to the Merchant Strategy Division

As one of Japan's largest platforms with over 70 million users, PayPay has built an ecosystem that enhances value for both users and merchants, centered on payments, including coupons, stamp cards, and point rewards. Our Merchant Strategy Division identifies business challenges in diverse areas such as retail, food and beverage, local governments, and manufacturers, and promotes business strategy, service development, and growth design. Our mission is to take charge of everything from service conception to design, launch, and monetization, creating new value from the massive PayPay platform.

Introduction to the Position's Department

With the mission of reflecting merchant/user challenges and business opportunities in products to maximize monetization, we handle a wide range of tasks from concept planning to project management and development promotion. These include planning and improving merchant services leveraging PayPay's payment business infrastructure, creating synergies with group companies, and building cross-service infrastructure.

Background of Recruitment

Currently, in the merchant business, in addition to growing existing services like PayPay Coupons and PayPay Stamp Cards, we are also focusing on creating new services that will become future pillars of the business. As the business grows and expands, we are looking for individuals who can lead the creation or growth of services and eventually demonstrate leadership in service planning for the merchant business.

Job Responsibilities

In the department that plans and promotes PayPay merchant services, you will be responsible for business plan formulation and service analysis. You will manage all aspects of action management to achieve the sales targets of the business division. You will work closely with service development members to consider services based on numerical data, such as business plan modeling, market analysis, and acceptability surveys.

  • Business plan modeling and simulation
  • Strategy formulation and P&L planning/budget management based on market and competitor data analysis
  • Factor analysis and growth design of service KPIs using machine learning
  • Construction of economic models for new services and verification of revenue scenarios
  • Automation of research, proposals, and improvement suggestions using generative AI like ChatGPT

  • Super Flex System (no core time)
  • Principle: 9:00 AM - 5:45 PM (7 hours 45 minutes actual work + 1 hour break)
