Database Administrator *New*

Caramel Tech Studios is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage huge datasets and drive complex database implementations. This challenging role involves diving into database infrastructure, handling installation, configuration, optimization, automation, backup, recovery, upgrades, and schema changes. The successful candidate will be a go-to database resource, utilizing experience in production, development, and QA/test environments. As a senior team member, you will also contribute to long-term planning, tool development, and architectural decisions, including complex automation scripting.

Must Have

• Manage and optimize large datasets
• Handle database installation, configuration, and automation
• Perform backup, recovery, upgrades, and schema changes
• Work across production, development, and QA/test environments
• Contribute to long-term planning and architectural decisions
• Senior-level experience in Postgres database administration
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Ruby, Python, Perl, or JavaScript
• Experience with Unix/Unix-like platforms, preferably Linux
• Provide technical mentorship and cross-training to peers

Good to Have

• Experience with AWS
• Ability to configure and maintain database servers for performance and security
• Experience with sharding and scaling large databases
• Proficiency in applying data modeling techniques
• Capability to independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time
• Skill in refining and automating regular processes

In this role, you will come up with new ideas for how to best manage huge data sets and have varied work. As a Database Administrator, your mission will be to dive into our database infrastructure. You will be on the team responsible for installation, configuration, optimization, automation, backup, recovery, upgrades, schema changes, and everything else.

Your experience with production, development, and QA/test environments will be put to use as you become one of our go-to database resources. As a senior member of our team you'll also be involved in long-term planning, tool development (which will include developing more complex automation scripts) and architectural discussions and decisions.
