Job Description

Job Title: Design Model Project Manager

Location: UK - Onsite

Technicon Design UK has an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with a minimum of 15 years in the Automotive Design Environment, specializing in interior model development for our client. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in clay and hard modelling, as well as hands-on experience in driving model and show car builds. This role requires excellent communication skills, project management capabilities, and a proactive approach to improving processes and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage model development projects within the design studio.
  • Understanding and expertise of clay and hard modelling techniques to deliver high-quality physical models.
  • Apply knowledge of driving model and show car build processes.
  • Create, review, and update project and model requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders and provide regular updates.
  • Develop detailed quotation documents with clear scope of work and deliverables.
  • Manage budgets and monitor expenditure against agreed plans.
  • Schedule and coordinate internal and external resources to meet design team deliverables.
  • Support Design Leadership with managerial tasks related to physical modelling, surfacing, and asset development.
  • Organize and ensure timely completion of physical model deliverables.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to develop solutions that enhance processes and quality.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in automotive design, focused on interior model development.
  • Proven expertise in clay and hard modelling.
  • Strong knowledge of driving model and show car build processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Preferable knowledge of CAD.
  • Experience in studio processes and facility development preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
