This Design Release Engineer role is within Aptiv's EDS segment, which is separating to form an independent company. The segment is a global leader in power and signal distribution systems, crucial for electrified, automated, and connected vehicles. The role involves incorporating DFM/DFT principles, managing project costs and timelines, utilizing various CAD and simulation software like SolidWorks, ANSYS, Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Siemens Teamcenter, and CATIA for design, analysis, and data management. The position seeks talented individuals to help shape the future of EDS and deliver industry-leading automotive solutions.
Must have:
  • Incorporate DFM/DFT principles into product designs.
  • Manage cost, mass, and timing targets for projects.
  • Conduct cost analysis, mass estimation, and timing planning.
  • Implement and manage design changes.
  • Utilize SolidWorks CAD software for designs.
  • Develop 3D models, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Apply ANSYS simulation tools for performance evaluation.
  • Use Altium Designer for electronic circuit design and PCB layout.
  • Design and develop PCBs considering electrical performance.
  • Employ Mentor Graphics Xpedition for PCB layout and validation.
  • Manage design data and documentation using Siemens Teamcenter PLM.
  • Utilize CATIA software for advanced 3D modeling and mechanical engineering.

This role is within the EDS segment, and you will be joining that segment as it becomes its own entity, with a rich heritage and proven track record as a global leader in low and high voltage power and signal distribution systems. Our solutions are central to enabling the next generation of electrified, automated, and connected vehicles, and we are committed to innovation, sustainability, and engineering excellence.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Incorporate DFM/DFT principles into product designs to optimize manufacturability, assembly, and testing processes.
  • Manage cost, mass, and timing targets for assigned projects, ensuring that design solutions meet budgetary constraints and project schedules.
  • Conduct cost analysis, mass estimation, and timing planning throughout the design and development process to achieve project objectives.
  • Implement and manage design changes in accordance with established change management processes and procedures.
  • Utilize SolidWorks CAD software to create, modify, and analyze detailed engineering designs and models.
  • Develop 3D models, assemblies, and drawings to communicate design concepts and specifications.
  • Apply ANSYS simulation tools for finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to evaluate product performance, structural integrity, and thermal behavior.
  • Use Altium Designer for electronic circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
  • Design and develop PCBs with consideration for electrical performance, signal integrity, and manufacturability.
  • Employ Mentor Graphics Xpedition software for PCB layout, routing, and design validation.
  • Manage design data, documentation, and revisions using Siemens Teamcenter PLM software.
  • Utilize CATIA software for advanced 3D modeling, surface design, and mechanical engineering tasks.
