Job Summary
The geotechnical team is looking for a geomorphologist to support the team in geomorphological and sedimentological characterization for geological risks. The successful candidate will be based in one of our offices in Quebec. Responsibilities include photo-interpretation of unconsolidated deposits and fluvial/coastal processes, participating in hydro-sedimentary monitoring, planning and conducting geomorphological surveys, interpreting field data, and contributing to reports.
Must Have
- Perform photo-interpretation of unconsolidated deposits and fluvial and coastal processes.
- Participate in the development of hydro-sedimentary monitoring.
- Plan and conduct geomorphological surveys (topographic, topobathymetric, sedimentary sampling).
- Ensure interpretation and analysis of data directly in the field.
- Perform sedimentary data entry and interpretation.
- Participate in data presentation and report writing.
- Support the geomorphology and geotechnical team in photo-interpretation of unconsolidated deposits and fluvial and coastal erosion processes.
- Hold a Master's degree (Earth sciences, geography, environment, geology, etc.) with geomorphology expertise.
- Good knowledge of photo-interpretation of digital aerial images for mapping unconsolidated deposits and sedimentary processes.
- Knowledge of Quaternary stratigraphy and sedimentology.
- Knowledge of main data acquisition instruments and main geographic data processing software (ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Proficiency in French (spoken and written).

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO WITH US:
- Perform photo-interpretation of unconsolidated deposits and fluvial and coastal processes in various contexts (linear construction projects, restoration and compensation, development of protection solutions against climate hazards, etc.);
- Participate in the development of hydro-sedimentary monitoring in the context of innovative and multi-year projects;
- Plan and conduct geomorphological surveys (topographic, topobathymetric, sedimentary sampling, etc.), accompanied by the technical team and under the supervision of a project manager;
- Ensure the interpretation and analysis of data directly in the field;
- Perform sedimentary data entry and interpretation;
- Participate in data presentation, particularly with the Geomatics and Cartography team, and in report writing;
- Support the geomorphology and geotechnical team in photo-interpretation of unconsolidated deposits and fluvial and coastal erosion processes.
WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT YOU IF YOU HAVE:
- A Master's degree (Earth sciences, geography, environment, geology, etc.) and expertise focused on geomorphology;
- Good knowledge of photo-interpretation of digital aerial images for mapping unconsolidated deposits and sedimentary processes;
- Knowledge of Quaternary stratigraphy and sedimentology;
- Knowledge of main data acquisition instruments and main geographic data processing software (ArcGIS, QGIS);
- Availability for occasional fieldwork in remote areas;
- Resourcefulness to solve unforeseen field problems (repair of electronic, mechanical equipment or various sampling devices);
- Strong interest and curiosity to learn new approaches and methods;
- Interest in aquatic ecology of fluvial and coastal environments;
- Teamwork skills and ability to integrate quickly;
- Proficiency in French (spoken and written).
