Job Summary

WSP is seeking an Intermediate Engineer to join its Quebec geotechnical team as a project manager. The role involves participating in various stages of geotechnical investigation studies, design, numerical modeling, and construction. Responsibilities include planning and executing geotechnical studies, supervising field work, drafting technical reports, design notes, and technical opinions, as well as project management and mentoring junior colleagues. The position requires collaboration with other WSP disciplines.

Must Have

  • Prepare technical service offers
  • Develop and manage geotechnical investigation programs
  • Develop and manage laboratory testing programs on soil and rock
  • Perform numerical modeling studies, analyses, and geotechnical calculations
  • Draft reports, notes, and technical opinions
  • Participate in site visits
  • Participate in the preparation and revision of plans and specifications for geotechnical structures
  • Ensure project management
  • Mentor and/or lead junior staff on projects
  • Contribute to developing relationships with internal and external clients
  • Participate in technological innovation and geotechnical development activities
  • Contribute to the development of geotechnical expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in civil (geotechnical) or geological engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience since graduation
  • Good oral and written communication skills in French
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • ASP construction card
  • Valid driver's license
  • Availability to travel regionally and internationally for short-term assignments
  • Ability to lift and carry loads up to 25 kg
  • Ability to work standing and/or walk on uneven terrain for extended periods
  • Ability to work in a crouched position during field work

WSP is looking for an intermediate engineer to join its Quebec geotechnical team as a project manager. As a project manager, you will be called upon to take part in the various stages of geotechnical investigation studies, geotechnical design and numerical modeling, and construction.

You will assume a wide range of responsibilities including the planning and execution of geotechnical studies, supervision of field work, drafting of technical reports, design notes and technical opinions, project management, and mentoring of more junior colleagues. To successfully complete projects, you will also need to collaborate regularly with teams from other WSP disciplines such as mining, transport and structure, building, maritime and port, rail, energy, and environment.

What you bring to WSP

  • Bachelor's degree in civil (geotechnical) or geological engineering
  • Graduate studies in geotechnical engineering, dams, mining, or any other relevant discipline an asset
  • 5 years or more of relevant work experience since graduation
  • Good oral and written communication skills in French
  • Proficiency in English an asset
  • Field experience will be considered an asset
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
