Job Summary
WSP is seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer for their Mining division. This role involves providing leadership and specialized expertise in process mining plant design, managing team performance, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. The engineer will oversee structural-civil deliverables, coordinate work groups, and communicate effectively with clients. Key responsibilities include structural modeling, analysis, design of concrete and steel elements, and preparing project documentation. The position requires a Civil Engineering degree, registration in Peru, and at least 10 years of experience in mining, industrial, or general building projects.
Must Have
- Provide guidance, leadership, and specialized expertise in process mining plant design.
- Manage and be responsible for group performance, meeting technical scope commitments and project milestones.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Monitor and control the development of Structural-Civil discipline deliverables.
- Organize work groups between junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
- Confirm structural engineering discipline planning meets design requirements, scope, and client expectations.
- Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate solutions.
- Work with project and engineering managers to lead daily client interaction.
- Develop project scope based on client operational and business needs.
- Technically review design plans and documents.
- Effectively and efficiently manage the group of engineers and drafters.
- Perform technical coordination and attend meetings with other disciplines.
- Propose and implement well-supported technical solutions.
- Be familiar with national and international design standards.
- Perform structural modeling and analysis.
- Design reinforced concrete and structural steel elements.
- Prepare calculation reports.
- Prepare project documents such as EETT, measurements, and budgets.
- Comply with internal policies and procedures of the Integrated Management System.
- Civil Engineering degree and registered with the Peruvian College of Engineers.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in similar roles in reinforced concrete and structural steel design for mining, industry, and/or general building projects.
- Knowledge of Peruvian and international regulations.
Good to Have
- Knowledge of mining processes.
- Knowledge and handling of engineering design software (Autodesk Autocad, Advance Steel, Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks).
- Advanced oral and written English.

Main functions of the position:
- Provide guidance, leadership, and specialized experience in process mining plant design to other engineers and team members in support of their personal development.
- Manage and be responsible for the group's performance, meeting agreed technical scope commitments and project milestones.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with engineering standards in all projects and studies, identifying deficiencies, implementing accepted levels of practice, conducting critical reviews, and holding engineers accountable for standards.
- Monitoring and control of the development of Structural-Civil discipline deliverables in process plant projects from a technical point of view.
- Organize work groups between junior and intermediate engineers with designers for the correct execution of deliverables.
- Confirm that the planning of the structural engineering discipline meets design requirements, scope, and client expectations, maintaining a high level of communication with working staff and clients.
- Transmit the knowledge base of the business, the organization, and the objectives of each client to team members.
- Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs, identify opportunities, and evaluate alternative solutions.
- Continuously seek and influence others to seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
- Work with project and engineering managers to manage and lead daily client interaction.
- Together with the Project and Engineering Manager, develop the project scope based on an understanding of the client's operational and business needs.
- Technically review design plans and documents.
- Effectively and efficiently manage the group of engineers and drafters in charge.
- Perform technical coordination and attend meetings with other disciplines.
- Propose and implement well-supported technical solutions.
- Be familiar with national and international design standards.
- Perform structural modeling and analysis.
- Design reinforced concrete and structural steel elements.
- Prepare calculation reports.
- Prepare project documents such as; EETT, Measurements, and budgets.
- Comply with the internal policies and procedures of the Integrated Management System for Quality, Environment, and Occupational Safety and Health in the activities performed, among others.
Professional background:
- Degree and registered in Civil Engineering (or international equivalent) with authorization from the Peruvian College of Engineers.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in similar roles in reinforced concrete and structural steel design for mining, industry, and/or general building projects.
- Desirable knowledge of mining processes.
- Knowledge of Peruvian and international regulations.
- Desirable knowledge and handling of engineering design software, Autodesk Autocad, Advance Steel, Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, etc.
- Desirable advanced oral and written knowledge of the English language.
