Job Description

medbee, part of Springer Medizin Verlag, is seeking a Head of Content Management for its fast-growing knowledge app for doctors. This full-time, permanent position in Vienna (hybrid model) involves developing and implementing content strategies for medical professionals, ensuring content quality and relevance, managing editorial processes, building expert networks, and leading an interdisciplinary content team. The role requires close collaboration with the medbee team and Springer Medizin to create engaging, user-centric content, while ensuring regulatory compliance and monitoring usage data for optimization.

Must Have:
  • Develop and implement a content strategy for medical target groups.
  • Ensure quality, evidence, and topicality of content (guidelines, specialist literature, DFP).
  • Manage editorial processes: topic planning, peer-review, publication, and continuous updates.
  • Build and maintain an expert and author network (specialist doctors, scientists, professional societies).
  • Perform editorial tasks for selected areas.
  • Lead and develop the interdisciplinary content team (editorial, medical specialists, content managers).
  • Collaborate closely with the entire medbee team and coordinate with Springer Medizin's editorial/marketing department.
  • Ensure regulatory and legal compliance (e.g., AMG/HWG, DFP accreditation, data protection).
  • Monitor usage data and trends, derive optimizations and innovation strategies to further increase product activity.
  • Further develop content formats.
  • Completed degree in human medicine and practical medical professional experience.
  • Experience in medical content or knowledge management.
  • Experience in team leadership and project management.
  • Understanding of digital content formats (articles, video, podcast, interactive CME).
  • Good knowledge of the legal framework for medical communication.
  • Strong communication skills, networking qualities, and high affinity for digital innovations.
  • Strategic thinking paired with a hands-on mentality.

About the Position

medbee is a fast-growing knowledge app exclusively for doctors, providing concise and everyday relevant information at the point of care. Since 2022, medbee has been part of the renowned Springer Medizin Verlag. Our clients are companies from the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries, for whom medbee offers an exclusive digital channel to their target group of doctors. We are looking for a Head of Content Management for immediate entry. The position is offered in our Vienna office, with a hybrid work model, full-time and permanent.

Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of a content strategy for medical target groups.
  • Ensuring the quality, evidence, and topicality of content (guidelines, specialist literature, DFP).
  • Management of editorial processes: topic planning, peer-review, publication, and continuous updating.
  • Building and maintaining an expert and author network (specialist doctors, scientists, professional societies).
  • Editorial activities for selected areas.
  • Leadership and further development of the interdisciplinary content team (editorial, medical specialists, content managers).
  • Close collaboration with the entire medbee team and coordination with the editorial/marketing department of Springer Medizin to prepare content attractively, user-centrically, and interactively.
  • Ensuring regulatory and legal compliance (e.g., AMG/HWG, DFP accreditation, data protection).
  • Monitoring of usage data and trends, derivation of optimizations and innovation strategies to further increase activity in the product.
  • Further development of content formats.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Completed degree in human medicine and practical medical professional experience.
  • Experience in medical content or knowledge management, ideally in a digital environment (app, e-learning, specialist portals).
  • Experience in team leadership and project management.
  • Understanding of digital content formats (articles, video, podcast, interactive CME).
  • Good knowledge of the legal framework for medical communication.
  • Strong communication skills, networking qualities, and high affinity for digital innovations.
