Position Overview:
With responsibility for managing a team of Regional HR professionals, this role provides leadership, coaching, and oversight on complex operational HR matters including performance management, ethics investigations, reorganisations, reduction-in-force and continuous improvement programs often involving unions and regulatory bodies. Through this team, it supports people leaders in addressing employee issues while fostering a compliant, high-performing, and respectful workplace culture. Collaboration with payroll, and workforce administration teams is an important part of effective operations. It serves as a key partner to HR Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and supports regional activities that enable growth, transformation, and organisational change, overseeing key operational HR activities such as M&A, divestiture support, complex employee relations and legal compliance.
Operating in a highly matrixed environment, the role plays a critical part in ensuring consistency in HR service delivery, aligning local practices with global policies, and contributing to a strong, legally compliant employee experience across the region.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a Regional HR team across multiple countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan and Philippines) providing guidance on complex employee matters, including performance management, investigations, reorganisations, and compliance with local labour laws.
- Drive regional execution of global HR strategies, supporting the implementation of and rolling out global plans that support business growth, transformation, and cultural alignment.
- Provide subject matter expertise across multiple countries and cultures, ensuring regional input into global HR planning and contributing to enterprise-wide initiatives and change management efforts.
- Oversee critical operational HR activities, including M&A support and employee relations, ensuring alignment with local legal requirements.
- Ensure consistent and compliant HR service delivery, aligning local practices with global policies while maintaining a positive and legally sound employee experience across the region.
The Ideal Candidate
- Team Leadership and Coaching - experience managing and developing regional HR teams, providing guidance and coaching on complex issues while fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and inclusive team culture.
- Employee Relations and Risk Management - experienced in leading and advising HR teams on complex employee relations matters, including investigations, reorganisations, and union/employee representative interactions. Demonstrates strong judgement in guiding others to effectively manage risk, ensure compliance, and protect the organisation's legal and reputational standing.
- Regional HR Expertise and Employment Law Knowledge - proven ability to lead and advise HR teams across multiple countries, applying knowledge of regional HR practices, local labor laws, and compliance requirements.
- Project Management and Organisational Agility - demonstrated ability to support complex Regional change, including M&A activity, enterprise initiatives, and large-scale organisational change efforts.
- Cross-Cultural Communication and Influence - strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders across diverse cultures, time zones, and organisational levels in a matrixed environment.
- Professional HR certification - such as CIPD, SHRM-CP/SCP, or local equivalent
