Job Summary

Micron Technology's DRAM and Emerging Memory Group (DEG) is a distributed team redefining memory technology, leading the industry in advanced semiconductor solutions. As a High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) System Engineering Intern, you will validate and optimize Micron’s HBM3E, the fastest and highest-capacity HBM available. You’ll work with experienced engineers to develop innovative solutions for testing and integrating HBM into customer platforms, advancing generative AI and high-performance computing.

Must Have

  • Develop and improve software and hardware to validate HBM in various systems
  • Configure, maintain, and characterize HBM-based systems in a lab environment
  • Assist in debugging complex technical challenges across hardware and software
  • Communicate results and insights to teammates and leadership
  • Learn and apply knowledge of HBM, DRAM, and memory systems
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program or equivalent experience in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Graduation date must be after September 2026
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture
  • Strong understanding of memory systems
  • Strong understanding of memory technologies
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Proficiency in C/C++
  • Proficiency in scripting for debugging and testing

Good to Have

  • Experience validating products with hardware, firmware, and software components
  • Familiarity with Linux environments
  • Experience with RTL modeling using Verilog or SystemVerilog
  • Hands-on experience programming and debugging FPGAs or microcontrollers
  • Knowledge of memory interfaces and protocols (e.g., LPDDR, DDR, HBM, GDDR, CXL, UCIe, PCIe)
  • Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts in verbal and written form
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic teammate with a proactive approach

Position Overview

As a High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) System Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the validation and optimization of HBM3E—the fastest and highest-capacity HBM available. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to develop innovative solutions for testing and integrating HBM into customer platforms, helping advance generative AI and high-performance computing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve software and hardware to validate HBM in various systems.
  • Configure, maintain, and characterize HBM-based systems in a lab environment.
  • Assist in debugging complex technical challenges across hardware and software.
  • Communicate results and insights to teammates and leadership.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of HBM, DRAM, and memory systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program or equivalent experience in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Graduation date must be after September 2026.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture, memory systems, and memory technologies.
  • Proficiency in Python, C/C++, and scripting for debugging and testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience validating products with hardware, firmware, and software components.
