Job Description

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Junior Customer Support Engineer to join their team in the Southern Portugal region. The role involves performing maintenance (preventative and corrective), implementing critical software patches, and providing technical support during major software upgrades and system expansions. The ideal candidate will be an Electronic/System/Computer Engineering graduate, with no prior experience required as full training is provided. Responsibilities include traveling to customer locations to perform duties, supporting public safety agencies and enterprises with critical communications, video security, and command center technologies. The role demands strong problem-solving skills, independence, and excellent communication in Portuguese and English.
Must have:
  • Readiness for security vetting
  • Degree in Telecommunications, Computer, or Software Engineering
  • Good IP network architecture knowledge
  • Server Virtualization & OS knowledge
  • Database Server knowledge
  • Network Switches, Firewalls, Routers knowledge
  • Willingness to perform on-call duty (24/7)
  • Willingness to travel within and outside Portugal
  • Ability to plan and meet deadlines
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • High independence and assertiveness
  • Perfect written and oral Portuguese skills
  • Good English communication skills
  • EU citizenship with residence in Portugal
  • Class B driving license

Department Overview

The Customer Support Field Engineer (CSE) will be part of the Portugal Services Organization, led by a group of dedicated Radio System & IP Network based professional engineers, who bring together a wide range of skills and experience that provide critical system support to Motorola Solutions Mission Critical Customers both in Portugal and across Europe. Such systems include Land Mobile Radio solutions, Software solutions such as Mission Critical Broad Band Push to Talk (MCPTT), Command and Control solutions, through to Two-way Radio products.


Job Description

The CSE will be part of a unique engineering team that predominantly performs maintenance (Preventative and Corrective) activities, implementation of critical software patches, provide technical support during major software upgrades, as well as providing technical support with system expansions, growing either the existing system or implementing new solutions. The CSE will be expected to travel to customer locations to perform their duties.

Basic Requirements

What we expect:

  • Readiness to undergo and pass detailed security-vetting checks based on country and customer requirements;

  • University degree or Technical degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent education;

  • Experience working in a similar field would be beneficial;

  • Good knowledge of IP network architecture and its components, Server Virtualization & Operating Systems, Database Servers, Network Switches, Firewalls and Routers;

  • CCNA certification, Comptia Network+ and Security+ certification would be beneficial;

  • Availability & willingness to perform On-call duty (24/7);

  • Availability and willingness to travel, inside and outside of Portugal;

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet strict deadlines;

  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to solve problems and make decisions;

  • High degree of independence and assertiveness;

  • Perfect written and oral communication skills in Portuguese and good English. Additional languages would be advantageous;

  • EU citizenship with residence in Portugal

  • Class B driving license.
