Job Summary
Frima is seeking a Lead Game Designer to elevate its design team. The role involves determining technical and conceptual approaches, leading team meetings, monitoring deliverables, and actively contributing to game design. The Lead Game Designer will also mentor the team, build partner relationships, and improve design processes. Frima offers a 4.5-day work week, flexible working options (remote, hybrid, in-person), and comprehensive benefits.
Must Have
- Determine technical and conceptual approaches for project vision
- Organize and lead team meetings to track progress and ensure timelines
- Monitor deliverables for quality, consistency, gameplay, and schedules
- Actively contribute to video game design and development with the multidisciplinary team
- Collaborate with the Design Director to align with company standards
- Mobilize, mentor, and support the direct team through coaching and feedback
- Build trusted relationships with partners and act as the main point of contact
- Develop and share design best practices with other leads and managers
- Contribute to improving design processes for efficiency and creativity
- Bachelor’s degree in game design or equivalent experience
- Minimum five years of experience in game design
- Team leadership experience
- Strong command of the Unreal game engine
- Solid mobile development experience
- Ability to travel abroad when required
- Excellent command of written and spoken French and English, with required English proficiency
Good to Have
- Experience on a third-person shooter game
- Entrepreneurial mindset, strong initiative, and proactive drive
- Excellent communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills in co-development
- Curiosity for new technologies, market trends, and design best practices, with willingness to experiment

Job Description
What your weeks are going to look like
- Determine the most appropriate technical and conceptual approaches to achieve the project vision while respecting production constraints;
- Organize and lead regular team meetings to track progress, anticipate risks, and ensure timelines are met;
- Monitor deliverables and ensure standards for quality, consistency, gameplay, and schedules are respected;
- Actively contribute to the design and development of the video game in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team;
- Work closely with the Design Director (core team) to stay aligned with company standards;
- Mobilize, mentor, and support the direct team through ongoing coaching and continuous feedback;
- Build a trusted relationship with the partner and act as the main point of contact;
- Develop and share design best practices with other leads and the manager;
- Contribute to improving design processes to optimize efficiency and creativity.
Qualifications
What we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in game design or another job-related field combined with equivalent experience;
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in game design;
- Team leadership experience;
- Strong command of the Unreal game engine;
- Solid mobile development experience;
- Experience on a third-person shooter game, an asset;
- Ability to travel abroad when required;
- Excellent command of both written and spoken French and English. English proficiency is required, as we collaborate with English-speaking partners.
