We are seeking an experienced Lead Programmer with a strong background in games programming to join our team and help steer the development of a new AAA cross-platform multiplayer game.

This role is crucial in driving our teams to create high-quality, immersive gaming experiences, while strategically navigating project challenges and constraints. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution, maintain robust workflows, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.

Responsibilities

    • Overseeing engineering design and implementation, ensuring team deliverables align with project goals and quality standards.
    • Making informed decisions to achieve high-quality results within project constraints.
    • Collaborating with team leaders and stakeholders to maintain focus and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Working closely with production, project management, and other leads to provide accurate information for planning and decision-making.
    • Developing and maintaining a project backlog in collaboration with engineers and product owners.
    • Defining project processes and workflows from the outset, contributing to improved working practices, pipelines, tools, and infrastructure.
    • Ensuring team tasks are clearly defined, recorded, and aligned with project objectives, assessing and communicating risks and dependencies.
    • Delegating tasks to appropriate resources, providing tailored coaching and mentoring to team members.
    • Anticipating the need for new systems, processes, and pipelines, collaborating with specialists/Technical Director for implementation.
    • Communicating and embodying coding standards and best practices within the team.
    • Fostering a positive, supportive team atmosphere, encouraging open communication and feedback.
    • Balancing staff development with project priorities, promoting growth while meeting objectives.
    • Consulting with external domain experts when making technical decisions.
    • Promoting communication and collaboration across disciplines.
    • Providing thoughtful, constructive feedback for direct reports.

Requirements

    • Advanced knowledge of at least one real-time game engine
    • Excellent leadership and people management skills, including conducting effective 1:1 staff meetings.
    • Ability to identify team members’ strengths and weaknesses, managing workloads appropriately.
    • Strong communication skills, capable of effective internal and external interaction and handling feedback constructively.
    • Skilled in both technical and management leadership.
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to address issues in any project area.
    • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and understanding of other software development methodologies.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a considerate approach to others’ needs and dependencies.
