Department Overview
As the charitable and philanthropic arm of Motorola Solutions, the Motorola Solutions Foundation partners with organizations around the world to build safer cities and thriving communities. We focus on giving back through strategic grants, employee volunteerism and other community investment initiatives. Our strategic grants program supports organizations that offer first responder programming and technology and engineering education, and align to our values of accountability, innovation, impact and inclusion. Job Description
NOTE: This will be a hybrid role based out of our Chicago Headquarters with the expectation of 2-3 days/week in office - Housing will not be available, candidate must be local
Overview
The Summer 2026 Foundation Intern will play a critical role in advancing key areas of the Foundation’s work, including:
- 2026 annual grant cycle
- Assist in reviewing grant applications using Google Suite and the Foundation’s grantmaking database
- Coordinate the Foundation’s employee grant review committees and lead discussions
- Research prospective grant applicants across strategic giving and geographical focuses
- Create reports on the Foundation’s grantmaking activities and impact
- Employee volunteerism and engagement
- Help coordinate company-sponsored volunteer events as appropriate, prepare communications for senior leadership regarding the volunteer opportunities and provide on-site event support.
- Compile and analyze employee giving and volunteer data and create reports on the Foundation’s employee volunteer efforts and impact
- Storytelling
- Create collateral to showcase Motorola Solutions and the Foundation as corporate social responsibility leaders
- Support the Foundation’s storytelling efforts via social media and blog posts
- Human Resources Team Support and Collaboration
- Participate in HR organization intern events and projects as schedule permits
Additional Knowledge/Skills Minimum
- GPA: 3.2
- Knowledge in Google Sheets and/or Excel
- Candidate must be able to work with Google and Microsoft products
- Demonstrated interest in social impact, non-profit organizations, corporate social responsibility, or communications through coursework, extracurriculars, and/or volunteer efforts is a plus
- Ability to plan and organize work in a fast-paced, demanding and rapidly changing environment
- Ability to work and collaborate across teams
- Has sound judgment, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally via verbal and written communication
- Customer-focused mindset with high level of professionalism, confidentiality and discretion
Basic Requirements
- Candidate must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree with a graduation date on or after December 2026
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
