About the Role & Program
Join us for the opportunity to learn how National Geographic’s Post-Production team creates Long & Short Form programs! Our team handles all aspects of post-production both video and audio for all content airing on NG, Wild, Mundo and Disney+. We are committed to bringing the world timely, gripping, and globally relevant content. We work with in-house producers to create originals, promos, mashups, compilations as well as format (cut-to-clock) programs to meet technical specifications. Our department ensures all programming conforms to National Geographic’s high standards of quality, creative and technical requirements for air and streaming.
The approximate dates of this internship are May 2025 through August 2025. If selected for this opportunity, you will report directly to Director, Editing Operations. A cover letter indicating your interest in the National Geographic Post Production Intern, Summer 2025 position is required.
What You Will Do
Learn about video editing Standard Operating Procedure’s “SOP(s)” and workflows and provide on-site editing assistance to a Senior Lead Editor
Ensure that raw footage meets the highest technical, creative standards for editing and audio post-production environment
Collaborate with various client groups across the company
Assist a diverse group of editors with varying creative the technical skills/styles to share
Participate in on-site screenings of finished works and works in process, to get a greater understanding of the process of overcoming creative and technical challenges.
Work on a particular show /delivery or float to assorted projects to experience multiple shows process/deliveries
Required Qualifications & Skills
Familiarity with the Adobe Suite, specifically Premiere, After Effects, Media Encoder and Photoshop
Must be detail oriented and possess excellent verbal and written skills
Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities
Must possess the ability to balance multiple simultaneous projects with a professional demeanor and prioritize work while under pressure
Self-motivated and resourceful, with the ability to work with minimal direction and exercise independent judgment
Must have strong customer service/client relation skills
Proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel
Adept at learning new software
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in National Geographic and its core subjects
Education
Junior or Senior year preferred
Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, English or related field
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship. Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization

Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
The approximate dates of this internship are May 2025 through August 2025
Fully available from Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm EST for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week
Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program in the Washington D.C. area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
