WCPO, The E.W. Scripps Company ABC affiliate in Cincinnati, Ohio, is seeking an experienced News Producer. This role involves creating and organizing content for multiple platforms, utilizing editorial, journalistic, organizational, and communication skills. The producer will develop newscasts, write and showcase stories, collaborate with news teams, enhance content with graphics and video, make time-sensitive editorial decisions, perform desktop editing, and post content to websites. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller passionate about local news in Cincinnati.

Must Have

  • Develop and organize newscasts or local programs.
  • Write stories and showcase them.
  • Collaborate with reporters, anchors, news managers, and assignment editors.
  • Execute time-sensitive decisions.
  • Oversee the show's broadcast and make up-to-the minute editorial decisions.
  • Perform desktop editing.
  • Post content to station's websites.
  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Generally, 2+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws.
  • Strong editorial judgment.
  • Proficient with newsroom computer systems.

  • Execute time-sensitive decisions.
  • Oversee the show's broadcast and make up-to-the minute editorial decisions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
  • Generally, 2+ years of experience in related field preferred
