Our Safer Betting Team proactively engages with at-risk customers to encourage informed, responsible betting through education, support, and early intervention. We’re now looking for a Safer Betting Advisor to help implement our Harm Minimisation initiatives across the TAB and betcha brands.

In this role, you’ll contribute directly to protecting customer welfare through proactive engagement and responsible gambling strategies. Your background in customer relationship management, investigative thinking, and your ability to balance empathy with sound judgement will make you a valuable addition to our team.

Where and how you can work...

We have offices expanding across multiple locations in New Zealand and Australia. This role will be based in our Auckland office.

This is a full-time position, working from Wednesday to Sunday, so the ability to work weekends is essential.

We value a flexible work environment and support a hybrid working model, enabling you to enjoy some work from home and achieve a healthy work-life balance based on your individual preferences. However, please note that the first few weeks of the role will involve full-time, office-based training to ensure your success in the position.

Your day-to-day...

  • Follow all relevant legislative processes in accordance with the statutory requirements of the Gambling Act 2003, the Racing Act 2020 and our commitment to the Strategic Partnership with TAB NZ.
  • Positively reinforce safer betting practices with internal and external customers to ensure the TAB meets or exceeds its statutory obligations in delivery of harm minimisation.
  • Analyse reports, data, and information sources to ensure all reasonable steps have been considered in relation to customer harm minimisation and/or responsible gambling.
  • Accurate and timely record keeping, harm minimisation reporting, and documentation.
  • Escalate any concerns or enquiries that may require manager input/oversight.
  • Grow strong and constructive relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Meet and discuss with customers via phone, email or face to face as the situation may dictate.
  • Act with the customer in mind and continually look for innovations and improvements to the customer experience.
  • Proactively promote Safer Betting options to customers across NZ brands.
  • Ensure customers are always treated with respect and dignity, while maintaining an objective view towards both customer and business risk.

You're a match if you ideally have...

  • 1-3 years’ experience in a harm minimisation or gambling industry role, paired with a strong work ethic and desire to learn from others.
  • Customer relationship experience is essential, preferably within an investigative or analysis environment.
  • Experience within the wagering, gambling, or casino sector would be highly desirable, although not essential.
  • A mature outlook with an empathetic and calm nature, balanced with an objective and rational mindset to handle challenging conversations.
  • Strong and reflective listening skills paired with a professional and clear communication style.
  • Open and non-judgmental attitude with the ability to relate to diverse cultures and backgrounds.
