Having released our debut game, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, in 2021 this journey is just beginning. We’re looking for collaborative team members who share our passion for storytelling and are eager to help us shape the future of Ember Lab. As a Senior Level Artist, you will bring environments to life through production, working collaboratively with the team to explore fundamental art style choices. You will have the opportunity to develop environmental assets, level dressing, and while working closely across teams. This role is well-suited for an artist who not only thrives in hands-on production, but who is also excited to grow into a leadership role over time, mentoring others and helping guide the artistic vision of our projects.
Must have:
  • Translating concept art and design ideas into 3D gameplay worlds
  • Working collaboratively with the Level Design team to ensure that gameplay intent is clear
  • Participating in the creation of concepts and plans for locations/levels
  • Collaborating with the art and design teams to design and layout game play spaces and create visually striking game environments
  • Collaborating with the tech art team to review materials and shaders to achieve the best possible quality
  • Creating props, architecture and terrain models, textures, and materials
  • Maintaining the production pipeline and meeting deadlines
  • Ensuring that assets meet the performance and memory requirements of the game engine and hardware
  • Contributing to team growth by sharing knowledge, mentoring less-experienced artists, and building toward future leadership opportunities
  • 5+ years of experience in the video games industry on at least one AAA title.
  • Excellent skills in at least one of the leading modeling packages (3DS Max, Maya, ZBrush, etc.).
  • Experience using Photoshop, Substance Designer, and Painter.
  • Experience using UE4 or UE5.
  • Great sense of scale, proportions, and composition.
  • Expert ability to create realistic looking textures and models.
  • Good knowledge about color theory and basic lighting techniques.
  • Experience creating a large variation of architecture, props, and landscapes.
  • Knowledge of physical based rendering (PBR).
  • Creative with a superb eye for detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Self-driven with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passion for creating story driven highly immersive games.
  • Interest in developing leadership skills and growing into a role that supports mentoring, guidance, and team direction over time
Good to have:
  • Experience with mesh optimization and finding creative solutions to retain artistic quality while supporting hardware restrictions.
  • Experience with procedural content creation packages is a plus (Houdini, World Machine, Speedtree, PCG).

Description
