Senior Technical SEO Manager

As a Senior Technical SEO Manager at idealo, you will lead technical SEO initiatives across international markets, focusing on ensuring the platform is perfectly crawlable, indexable, and semantically understood by both classic and Generative Engines (GEO). You will develop and implement data-driven strategies to improve organic performance and strengthen idealo’s visibility in AI-driven search environments, collaborating closely with various teams.

Must Have

• Develop and implement data-driven and machine-learning-based approaches to monitor, steer, and improve indexation quality.
• Manage and optimize crawl efficiency and front-end bot interactions for scalable, high-performance indexing.
• Lead technical SEO planning for complex migrations, from risk assessment to post-launch stabilization.
• Enhance idealo’s internal linking structure for improved topic relevance, information architecture, and crawlability.
• Build or refine technical monitoring systems to detect SEO-critical changes early.
• Conduct analyses to identify technical SEO risks and provide clear, prioritized recommendations.
• Advise product and engineering teams on technical SEO requirements, scalable implementation, and performance trade-offs.
• Research and develop strategies to increase idealo’s visibility within AI-generated search results and LLM-driven platforms.
• 5+ years of professional experience in technical SEO, ideally for complex and high-traffic e-commerce platforms.
• Deep understanding of indexation, crawling, rendering, and ranking factors (including JavaScript SEO and log file analysis).
• Proven experience managing large-scale migrations and optimizing internal linking and crawl structures.
• Proficiency with crawling tools (e.g. Screaming Frog, Audisto), SEO analytics platforms, and modern web technologies.
• Solid data literacy: strong skills in Excel/Sheets.
• Experience working with automation tools (e.g. n8n) or AI-based solutions to streamline SEO workflows.

Good to Have

• SQL or similar skills.
• German language skills.

About your new role

• Indexation Management: Develop and implement data-driven and machine-learning-based approaches to monitor, steer, and improve indexation quality across millions of URLs.

• Crawling & Bot Management: Manage and optimize crawl efficiency and front-end bot interactions to ensure scalable, high-performance indexing.

• Migration Projects: Lead technical SEO planning for complex migrations — from risk assessment to post-launch stabilization.

• Internal Linking Optimization: Enhance idealo’s internal linking structure for improved topic relevance, information architecture, and crawlability.

• Monitoring & Early Detection: Build or refine technical monitoring systems to detect SEO-critical changes early.

• SEO Risk Management: Conduct analyses to identify technical SEO risks and provide clear, prioritized recommendations.

• Engineering Collaboration: Advise product and engineering teams on technical SEO requirements, scalable implementation, and performance trade-offs.

• Knowledge Sharing & Stakeholder Communication: Document findings, share insights through training or presentations, and represent SEO expertise across idealo and Axel Springer stakeholders.

• Research and develop strategies to increase idealo’s visibility within AI-generated search results and Large Language Model–driven platforms. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate GEO principles into idealo’s architecture and content frameworks.

Job requirements

As Senior Technical SEO Manager, you’ll lead idealo’s technical SEO initiatives across multiple international markets and product domains. Your goal is to ensure our platform is perfectly crawlable, indexable, and semantically understood — both by classic search engines and Generative Engines (GEO).

You will collaborate closely with SEO Managers, Data Analysts, Product Managers, and Engineers to design and implement data-driven and forward-looking optimization strategies that improve organic performance and strengthen idealo’s visibility in evolving AI-driven search environments.

Skills & Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in technical SEO, ideally for complex and high-traffic e-commerce platforms.

• Deep understanding of indexation, crawling, rendering, and ranking factors (including JavaScript SEO and log file analysis).

• Proven experience managing large-scale migrations and optimizing internal linking and crawl structures.

• Proficiency with crawling tools (e.g. Screaming Frog, Audisto), SEO analytics platforms, and modern web technologies.

• Solid data literacy: strong skills in Excel/Sheets; SQL or similar is a plus.

• Experience working with automation tools (e.g. n8n) or AI-based solutions to streamline SEO workflows.

• Self-motivated, structured, and ownership-driven, with a strong ability to set priorities and manage complex projects independently.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (German is a plus).
