Quantic Dream is recruiting a Senior VFX Artist specialized in producing high-quality in-game visual effects for ambitious upcoming productions. The role involves creating stunning 3D visual effects for characters, environments, objects, and UI, while balancing visual quality with real-time performance. The artist will collaborate with the Code/Engine department, ensure artistic consistency, and work within project constraints and deadlines.
Must have:
  • Produce high-quality in-game 3D visual effects.
  • Ensure balance between visual quality and real-time performance.
  • Apply effects to characters, environments, objects, and UI.
  • Collaborate with Code/Engine department for development ideas.
  • Respect project constraints, artistic directions, and production deadlines.
  • 4+ years experience as VFX Artist on real-time productions.
  • Experience on at least one published AAA video game.
  • Strong ability to assimilate internal pipelines, tools, and proprietary technologies.
  • Very good knowledge of real-time VFX pipelines and techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of real-time engines and PBR shaders.
  • Excellent knowledge of Maya and Photoshop CS.
  • Knowledge of FumeFX, Realflow, Houdini.
  • Expertise in fluid and particle simulation systems, real-time physics engines.
Good to have:
  • Good knowledge of scripting languages (Python / Mel).

Job Details

Your missions within the Quantic Dream team

  • Under the supervision of the Lead VFX Artist, and according to the directions defined by the Artistic Directors, ensure the production of high-quality 3D visual special effects pushing the limits of real-time productions, with great attention to detail; ensure the most relevant balance between visual quality and real-time performance;
  • The production of these in-game 3D visual special effects applies to characters, environments and objects (for example: explosions, destructions, rain, fire, injuries, etc.), and also to the player and user interface;
  • Collaborate with the Computer Code/Game Engine department to propose development ideas that will facilitate and improve the work of the FX team, as well as the feasibility of certain artistic requests;
  • Communicate in an ad hoc manner to interact, collaborate and develop constructive relationships with interlocutors;
  • Respect the constraints, particularly artistic ones, imposed and defined on the project and work within the given deadlines and in compliance with production schedules.

Your qualities that will make the difference

  • 4+ years of experience as a VFX Artist on real-time productions.
  • Experience on at least one published AAA video game;
  • Strong ability to assimilate internal pipelines, proprietary tools & technologies;
  • Very good knowledge of real-time VFX pipelines and techniques;
  • Ability to communicate verbally and visually effectively;
  • Ability to solve problems technically and/or creatively;
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team (designers, computer engineers, animators) to create very high-level special effects;
  • Ability to maintain the most relevant balance between visual quality and real-time performance;
  • Ability to work with the Artistic Direction to create, develop and ensure the consistency of the artistic style throughout the project;
  • Ability to define visual and technical sources of inspiration that will advance the technical and aesthetic quality of the project;
  • A positive attitude and a real desire to bring new ideas to the team are essential.
  • Excellent knowledge of real-time engines and PBR shaders;
  • Excellent knowledge of Maya and Photoshop CS;
  • Knowledge of software traditionally used in the field of special effects is essential (FumeFX, Realflow, Houdini...);
  • Advanced expertise in fluid and particle simulation systems, as well as real-time physics engines, is essential;
  • Very good knowledge of scripting languages (Python / Mel) is a plus.
