Job Summary

The Sound Assistant supports audio technicians and other crew members, ensuring optimal technical conditions for work. This involves driving material/capture vehicles to locations, providing technical and logistical assistance for multi-camera assignments, managing equipment inventory, and consulting with Audio Heads on hardware needs. After an initial training period, the role involves more responsibility for technical equipment and evolving into the right-hand of the Audio Heads on set.

Must Have

  • Assist audio technicians and other crew members and clients.
  • Drive material van or capture vehicle to locations.
  • Provide technical and logistical assistance for multi-camera assignments.
  • Responsible for the inventory of the material van.
  • Consult with the Heads of Audio about extra hardware.
  • Preferably have an audiovisual education.
  • Be immensely interested in the technical side of the broadcast world.
  • Be able to assess and solve complex situations well, often under pressure.
  • Work meticulously and independently.
  • Be willing to work during weekends and evenings.
  • Possess a driving license B and/or C (or be willing to obtain a C license).
  • Be a true team player and communicative.

YOUR ROLE IN THE TEAM

You assist the audio technicians and other crew members and clients in such a way that the work can be carried out in the best technical conditions. You are willing to drive to and from a location with the material van or capture vehicle and provide technical and logistical assistance for a smooth and efficient handling of multi-camera assignments. You are jointly responsible for the inventory of the material van, taking into account the agreed deployment of resources (e.g., via capture checklist), so that correct and sufficient resources and peripheral equipment are present on location. You consult with the Heads of Audio about the extra hardware that needs to be provided. After an induction period, you will also gain more responsibility for the technical equipment. You will further evolve into the right-hand of the Heads of Audio on set.

YOUR PROFILE

  • You preferably have an audiovisual education;
  • The technical side of the broadcast world interests you immensely;
  • You can assess and solve complex situations well, often under pressure;
  • You work meticulously and can work independently;
  • You are willing to work during weekends and evenings;
  • You are in possession of a driving license B and/or C (or are willing to obtain a C license);
  • Above all, you are a true team player and communicative, both with your colleagues, planning, and your supervisors.
