Sr Support Engineer 2 - Linux, RHEL/OEL/Ubuntu, Shell Scripting, LVM

This role is for a skilled Linux Systems Engineer to administer, maintain, and enhance Linux-based infrastructure. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE), managing user accounts, storage, and file systems. The engineer will perform OS patching, upgrades, monitoring, and troubleshooting, ensuring system stability and security. Automation through Bash, Python, or Ansible scripting is key, along with supporting infrastructure-as-code deployments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
• 3 to 8 years of Linux server administration in enterprise environments
• Strong skills in RHEL/CentOS administration, including systemd, networking, and storage
• Proficiency in Bash scripting and familiarity with Python or Ansible
• Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.)
• Understanding of ITIL processes
• Ability to provide 24x7 support with shift rotation, including weekends and evenings

Scope:

• We are looking for a skilled Linux Systems Engineer to administer, maintain, and enhance our Linux-based infrastructure. The role involves managing various Linux distributions, ensuring system stability, automating operational tasks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business-critical applications.

What you’ll do:

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE).
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings.
• Administer storage, LVM, and file systems (ext4, xfs, etc.).
• Perform OS patching, upgrades, and kernel tuning.
• Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
• Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
• Implement OS hardening best practices.
• Apply security patches and monitor for vulnerabilities.
• Develop and maintain scripts in Bash, Python, or Ansible for automation.
• Support infrastructure-as-code deployments.
• Work with application, database, and DevOps teams for Linux-based deployments.
• Provide on-call support for critical issues.

What we are looking for:
