Job Description
Our client is looking for a Technical Program Manager to take full ownership of sustaining activities for a high-volume consumer hardware product. You will focus on strengthening product reliability, manufacturability, quality, compliance, and cost efficiency as production scales globally. This role requires tight coordination with engineering, design, supply chain, manufacturing partners, factories, vendors, and test labs.
You will drive the planning, issue resolution, process improvements, risk management, and continuous operational upgrades that keep a fast-growing hardware program running smoothly.
What you will do:
- Lead all sustaining engineering efforts to continuously improve reliability, quality, cost, and manufacturability for the product line.
- Own the cross-functional triage process, ensuring issues have clear owners, timelines, and outcomes across internal teams and external partners (ODMs/CMs, suppliers, test labs, and retail/platform partners).
- Manage the full FRACAS lifecycle: define defect classification, drive root-cause analysis, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and verified in production.
- Oversee large-scale change management, including PLM workflows, ECR/ECO processes, PPAP, and FAI, ensuring changes are introduced safely and intentionally.
- Run sustaining builds and manage change cut-ins with well-defined entry/exit gates, sampling plans, and quality metrics.
- Build and publish dashboards and KPIs covering yield, SPC, DPMO, field performance, returns/RMA, burn-in results, and line health.
- Lead factory audit and PDI planning, and guide IQC/IPQC/OQC/ORT processes to maintain quality rigor across production lines.
- Prepare factories for ramp-up: capacity checks, fixture readiness, test coverage, golden samples, and vendor alignment for peak-season volumes.
- Oversee regulatory compliance, coordinate pre-compliance testing, manage lab interactions, and ensure regional certification and labeling requirements are met.
- Maintain thorough, accurate documentation—including specifications, test plans, ECO packages, and operational runbooks—to support audits and onboarding.
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 5+ years of technical program management experience in hardware, manufacturing, or consumer electronics.
- Direct experience working with JDM/ODM partners, contract manufacturers, and component suppliers.
- Strong working knowledge of PLM systems, PPAP, ECR/ECO, DOE, FMEA, SPC, GR&R, DPMO, FRACAS, and fishbone analysis.
- Good understanding of electrical, mechanical, CMF, DFx principles, and high-volume manufacturing workflows.
- Familiarity with regulatory and safety compliance, including pre-compliance strategy and lab processes.
- Skilled in program management tools and capable of creating clear reports, forms, charts, and documentation.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to influence and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfortable operating in complex environments with highly technical stakeholders.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin.
