Job Summary
The Senior Wind Hub Technician at GE Vernova Onshore Wind is a critical role focused on maintaining optimal function and output at wind sites. This position involves local travel within the hub, working daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repairs. Responsibilities include executing contractual obligations, troubleshooting complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on variable pitch & speed turbines, adhering to EHS regulations, performing diagnostic analysis, and documenting work. The technician will also partner with site leadership and mentor peers.
Must Have
- Minimum 4 years of wind troubleshooting experience (or 5 years without lead role)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel up to 100%
- Ability to handle 50 lbs. and climb 300-foot towers daily
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch & speed turbines
- Read and understand schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
- Adhere to EHS processes and regulations
Good to Have
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field
- Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic field
- Wind turbine experience
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
- Experience using hydraulic power tools
- Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance, including crane and rigging knowledge

The Senior Wind Hub Technician position requires local travel within the hub. The Senior Wind Hub Technician is a critical and active role to maintain optimal function and output at the wind site by working daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control and warranty repair(s). The Senior Wind Hub Technician partners and communicates with the Site Lead and Manager to execute on contract requirements and timelines and ensures alignment with GE Vernova excellence!
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
As the Senior Wind Hub Technician, you will:
- Work with site/hub leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and activities set forth daily, which include any portion of the electrical and mechanical equipment used in the GE wind turbine generator.
- Apply extensive understanding of variable pitch & speed turbines and converter parts.
- Read, understand, and explain schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
- Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety processes and regulations and all applicable compliance requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch & variable speed turbines.
- Help in all areas of site operations as directed by manager with minimal supervision, observing all safety requirements.
- Effectively perform diagnostic analysis and generate plan for timely resolution.
- Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures and
- Work with and respond to GE Vernova’s remote operations center when necessary.
- Help in all areas of site operations as directed by manager, and mentor peers.
Qualifications/Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 4 years of wind trouble-shooting experience and 1 year EHS, SQC, Lead role, OR
- Minimum of 5 years of wind trouble-shooting experience
Eligibility Requirements
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to pass Technical Knowledge Assessment
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time
- Handle repetitive weight - 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet daily
- Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300lbs including required gear
- Ability and willingness to work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities
- Effectively prioritize work according to contract obligations
- Ability and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervision, and
- Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules, and on-call per site needs.
- Occasional overnights may be required per hub needs.
Desired Characteristics
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or university
- Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic field
- Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the Wind Farm
- Wind turbine experience
- Ability and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervision
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
- Experience using hydraulic power tools
- Experience with heavy equipment required for facility maintenance with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
