Job Description

Onward Search is seeking an Audio Engineer for a long-term hybrid contract role in New York, New York. This position involves joining the Production team to deliver high-quality audio for video productions, podcasts, and live broadcasts. The role requires a dynamic mix of in-studio and on-location work, supporting various audio needs from initial setup to final editing, within a multinational professional services company known for its collaborative and creative culture.
Good To Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, or equivalent experience.
  • Digital portfolio showcasing audio production, mixing, sound design, and video editing work.
  • Research and recommend new audio technologies, tools, and workflows.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for audio editing and production processes.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and client-service skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules; occasional travel may be required.
Must Have:
  • Set up and operate audio equipment for video recordings, live webcasts, and podcasts.
  • Mix and record clean, high-quality audio using multichannel audio boards.
  • Direct and coach voice talent during recording sessions.
  • Record and mix voiceovers in-studio and on-location.
  • Create intros, outros, music, and sound design elements to enhance productions.
  • Edit multi-camera video podcasts and manage archiving of media files.
  • Oversee all phases of podcast production, including remote recording via cloud-based platforms, audio cleanup, transcript generation, and encoding for distribution.
  • 5+ years of experience as an audio engineer in a professional media production environment.
  • Experience with audio and video podcast production, including remote feeds.
  • Strong expertise in live and on-location audio mixing for broadcast or corporate productions.
  • Proficiency with microphones, mixers, recorders, and CPU-based recording systems.
  • Solid understanding of signal flow, cabling, and audio-to-video system integration.
  • Advanced knowledge of audio/video editing software such as Adobe Audition, Premiere, After Effects, Sound Forge, Pro Tools (preferred), and Audacity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, and Mac/Windows platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve issues quickly during live production.
