Motorola Solutions is seeking a Systems Software Engineer for its North America Solutions Deployment and Integration Organization. This role involves building and maintaining data migration and conversion tools, test scripts, and deployment timelines. Candidates will collaborate to design and implement data conversion solutions, perform system integration, and work with customers to meet business objectives. The position requires strong technical skills in software development and database design, along with excellent communication for customer interaction.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree AND 1+ years experience in software disciplines OR 4+ years of experience in software disciplines
  • Experience in software development (C#, XML, Python, .NET technologies)
  • Hands-on experience with SQL database design (MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Strong experience in SQL Query Design and Implementation
  • Understanding of object-oriented coding and design
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug issues
  • Solid networking understanding
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to obtain background clearance as required by government customer (CJIS Security Policy)
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely

Department Overview

The North America Solutions Deployment and Integration Organization delivers solutions to the public safety market (911, Police, Fire, EMS). The team delivers products and solutions that make our customers the best they can be in Solving for Safer. The Data Conversion team migrates/converts historical customers' data into Motorola Solutions products.

Job Description

Motorola Solutions is looking for candidates with data-driven development experience, including a solid understanding of software development and deployment. In this role, candidates will build/maintain data migration and conversion tools, test scripts, and deployment timelines with the project team. Candidates need the ability to collaborate, prototype, design, and implement data conversion solutions. The successful candidate will be able to perform system integration of data migration solutions for our customers and also have the ability to work with customers to fulfill the business objectives and end-user expectations. This technical person will be a bridge between the customer's business needs and our technical ability to deliver data migration solutions. ​Soft-skills and customer interaction is required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Technical/software development experience.
  • Experience in software development; experience (C#, XML, Python and .NET technologies).
  • Hands-on experience with SQL database design (MS SQL (preferred), Oracle, MySQL or PostgreSQL)
  • Strong Experience in SQL Query Design and Implementation
  • Understanding of object-oriented coding and design, Participating in code reviews and feedback.
  • Able to troubleshoot and debug issues.
  • Support and triage issues with customer integration teams under minimum supervision.
  • Solid networking understanding.
  • Ability to create Project's overall quality strategy and modify as-needed basis.
  • Ability to evaluate software quality through load testing, stress testing and techniques like unit testing and exploratory testing.
  • Should be able to summarize findings in a clear manner through the use of reports and other written artifacts.
  • Validate/deliver data migration solution with the customer based on contract deliverables
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate complex technical strategies with customers.
  • Experience with Agile software development, project management and business analysis practices is a plus.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. and our customers.

This position is a remote position and candidates can be located anywhere in the US.

Target Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

Basic Requirements
