Tackle the most complex asset challenges, developing a world-class workflow to unleash the potential of our art team on AAA titles.Please note: This is not an entry-level or mid-level position. Sufficient professional experience is required.Responsibilities<ul><li>Lead and grow a team of Technical Artists</li><li>Inspire, mentor, and support the Tech Art team</li><li>Meet with Technical Artists regularly to share information and updates, enforce standards, set benchmarks, and give feedback</li><li>Manage and develop robust and efficient workflows for the Art and Design teams</li><li>Research and help develop new technologies&nbsp;</li><li>Create new techniques and procedures to improve game asset quality</li><li>Help improve and refine shader, texture, and lighting quality</li><li>Identify and fix pipeline issues</li><li>Analyze and improve art asset inefficiencies to optimize console performance&nbsp;</li><li>Write documentation about art tools and workflows</li><li>Act as a liaison between the Engineering and the Art departments</li><li>Assist with solving daily production challenges</li><li>Work with the Production department to define a schedule and assign tasks</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>At least 7 years of professional experience in the games industry with at least one shipped title as a Lead Technical Artist</li><li>Must have prior experience leading a team of Technical Artists</li><li>Complete understanding of current-generation game workflows and pipelines</li><li>An overall understanding of all Art related disciplines including environment, character, VFX, UX, lighting, shading, and rendering</li><li>Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills</li><li>Experience working with multiple game engines</li><li>Interest in learning a custom proprietary game engine</li><li>Have the ability to learn and then teach newly acquired knowledge</li><li>Expert knowledge of Maya</li><li>Maya scripting experience in Python</li><li>Working knowledge of Houdini</li></ul>The ideal candidate may also have:<ul><li>Expert knowledge of Houdini</li><li>Experience with Substance Painter and Designer</li><li>Shader authoring skills (HLSL, GLSL, CGFX) knowledge</li><li>Knowledge of C++, C#, Javascript, or other programming languages</li></ul></div><div class="job__pay-ranges"><div class="pay-range"><div class="description"><div class="body">&nbsp;Please refer to our&nbsp;<a href="https://www.playstation.com/en-us/legal/careers-privacy-notice/">Candidate Privacy Notice</a>&nbsp;for more information about how we process your personal information, and your data protection rights.
