Rigging Artist (Adobe Animate)
Responsibilities of the Position
- Rig 2D characters, creatures, props, and other assets in Adobe Animate, ensuring optimal flexibility and good performance for animators.
- Create intuitive control systems for animators (including motion tweens, symbol hierarchies, constraints, and bone systems).
- Optimize rigs to achieve smoother animation workflows.
- Work from character designs or breakdowns to structure and segment art into animation-ready formats.
- Collaborate with animators to resolve rig problems and offer technical solutions that improve usability.
- Maintain naming conventions, clean layer structures, and organized file hierarchies to ensure consistency across the team.
- Help develop rigging templates, documentation, and reusable assets to facilitate production.
- Participate in reviews and incorporate feedback from animation directors and technical leads.
Requirements and skills:
- More than 4 years of experience as a 2D rigger in a professional animation studio.
- Proficiency in Adobe Animate, including rigging tools like Bone Tool, parenting systems, symbols, and timeline organization.
- Solid knowledge of 2D rigging principles.
- Demonstrated experience in character rigging for digital animation (portfolio or rigging demo required).
- Deep understanding of anatomy, weight distribution, joint placement, and 2D deformation principles.
- Familiarity with scene organization, performance optimization, and animation best practices.
- Experience with hybrid rigs (combination of puppet and frame-by-frame animation).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple projects.
- Knowledge of other Adobe Creative Suite tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects).
- Ability to follow instructions and work autonomously or collaboratively.
- Team-oriented mindset, with a professional, positive, and collaborative attitude.
