Onward Search is a specialized staffing and talent solutions company that helps professionals find top jobs with the nation’s leading brands. A leading sports, pop culture, and technology media outlet is looking for a professional to support its content quality and publishing workflow on a part-time contract basis.
In this dynamic editorial role, you'll copyedit, fact-check, and proofread content across digital, audio, and video platforms to ensure consistency, accuracy, and journalistic integrity. You'll work closely with writers, producers, and editors to maintain the brand's voice while moving content efficiently through the publishing pipeline using CMS and project management tools.
This is a remote, part-time contract opportunity (approximately 20 hours per week) for 12 months. Candidates must be available to work in the EST time zone. The pay range is $40–$44/hour, paid weekly.

Copy Editor Responsibilities:
- Copyedit and fact-check all editorial pieces, headlines, show descriptions, and social content.
- Review and refine scripts for podcasts, video segments, and narrative storytelling formats.
- Ensure all published materials meet brand tone, journalistic ethics, and legal accuracy.
- Coordinate with editors and writers to resolve feedback and finalize copy in Google Docs.
- Manage copy flow and deadlines using Trello and internal CMS tools.
- Publish and maintain articles, show notes, and multimedia content through WordPress.
- Maintain high-quality standards across short-form and long-form features, ensuring accuracy, taste, and style consistency.
Copy Editor Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a copy editor for a daily or high-volume publication (required).
- Strong command of both Chicago and AP style guides.
- Expertise in editing for grammar, punctuation, tone, and clarity under tight deadlines.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced editorial environment.
- Experience working with digital media and proficiency in WordPress or similar CMS platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and editorial judgment.
- Familiarity with sports, pop culture, and multimedia content editing (preferred).
