The Database Manager will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining database architecture, ensuring security, and optimizing performance. Key duties include implementing security policies, managing access, monitoring and tuning performance, and developing backup and recovery strategies. The role also involves collaborating with IT teams, documenting systems, and planning upgrades and migrations to support organizational needs.

Key responsibilities
- Design and Maintenance: Design, build, and maintain database architecture, data structures, and ensure compatibility with organizational needs.
- Security and Access: Implement and enforce security policies, manage database access, and create user permissions to protect data from unauthorized access and breaches.
- Performance and Optimization: Monitor and tune database performance, optimize queries, and implement strategies for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement regular database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data reliability and minimize downtime.
- Collaboration and Support: Work with other IT teams (such as developers) to integrate database systems, and provide technical support and expertise to resolve issues.
- Documentation and Standards: Develop and maintain documentation for all database systems and establish and enforce database standards and policies.
- Upgrades and Migrations: Plan and implement database upgrades, migrations, and data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
Essential skills and qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Expertise in database design, development, and management.
- Proficiency in database technologies, such as SQL.
- Knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery principles.
