Job Description

The client is expanding its team to work on their first title, seeking an experienced Lead Animator. The role involves leading the animation pipeline for a tactical RPG, aiming to create an unforgettable experience for players. Responsibilities include overseeing the implementation process, translating art direction into animation documentation, creating benchmark animations, participating in R&D, collaborating with various teams, developing assets, and mentoring the animation team. Additional tasks involve fixing animation bugs, creating presentations, and hands-on creation of game-ready animations. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned animator with a strong portfolio.
Must Have:
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proficient with animation software (MotionBuilder/Maya)
  • Keen aesthetic awareness and movement knowledge
  • Proficiency in human anatomy and body language
  • Attention to detail and adaptability
  • Experience with Motion Capture
  • Experience with procedural runtime animation solutions
  • Portfolio demonstrating skills
  • Very good organizational skills
  • Good communicator
  • Unreal experience

Our client is growing their team to work on their first title and are looking for an experienced Lead Animator to join them. Their next game is a tactical RPG and they are aiming to create an unforgettable experience for the players.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Stakeholder for animation pipeline from mocap to final game ready animation
  • Having the oversight and management of the implementation process, coordinating integration of design, technical animation, animation, and gameplay elements
  • Translate art and game direction into animation bible / animation documentation
  • Create benchmark animations to demonstrate technical and visual quality
  • Participate in R&D for current and future animation technologies
  • Work with game designers, gameplay engineers, tech artists to understand engine limitations
  • Develop new assets while following technical and artistic direction to ensure the end product is of high quality
  • Develop and maintain documentation on tools, training and processes
  • Mentor and coach the animation team on best practises
  • Create and hold presentations for the team or external collaborators as needed
  • Fix animation bugs and also help with optimization of assets
  • Hands on creation of game ready animations
 
Requirements:
  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficient with animation software such as MotionBuilder/Maya
  • Keen aesthetic awareness and comprehensive knowledge of movement in space
  • Proficiency in human anatomy, understanding of physiological behaviors, and mastery of body language and scale in character designs for conveying emotions through motion
  • Attention to detail, versatility, receptiveness to new ideas, and the ability to adjust to shifting circumstances
  • Experience with Motion Capture.
  • Experience with procedural runtime animation solutions like IK, Ragdoll or Retargeting
  • Portfolio which demonstrates your seniority and skills
  • Very good organizational skills
  • Good communicator
  • Unreal experience
