Position: Part-time (20 hours or less per week) in our San Jose HQ or remote

What You’ll Do

The Intellectual Property (IP) Group seeks a highly motivated and exceptional Research Engineer to assist in developing innovative systems for patent text generation using multimodal inputs. The position will collaborate with a team on research, experimentation, analysis, and implementation of multimodal algorithms for patent text generation. You will contribute to designing novel algorithms and publishing research findings in leading machine learning conferences.

Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct scientific research to design and develop innovative machine learning algorithms in the field of natural language processing for language modeling and multimodal text generation
• Collaborate with other researchers in developing machine learning algorithms
• Communicate with the domain experts to gain a deep understanding of the problem space
• Prepare presentations and technical reports to showcase the experimental results and findings
• Summarize and publish research findings in high-quality research papers and/or patent submissions
• Demonstrate the ability to think creatively and work effectively both as part of a team and as an individual contributor
• Show a strong willingness to learn new algorithms, application areas, and tools

What You Bring

• Ph.D. student or Masters student in computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, information technology, or a related technical discipline
• Strong background in machine learning, specifically deep learning
• Background in natural language processing, text classification, and text generation algorithms
• Knowledge of temporal text mining or working with temporal data
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Strong programming skills such as Python or MATLAB
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as Tensforflow, Keras, or PyTorch
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Skills:

• Ph.D. student in computer science with a strong background in machine learning, specifically deep learning, neural networks, and neural language models

• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as Tensforflow, Keras, or PyTorch
