Job Summary
The Manager, Society Partnership & KOL Management, is a critical role focused on developing and nurturing relationships with medical societies and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to drive scientific communication strategies for pharmaceutical and life sciences clients. This position requires a unique blend of strategic relationship building, scientific acumen, project conceptualization, and hands-on medical writing skills, alongside exceptional cross-functional communication with client Medical Affairs and Marketing teams. The role involves identifying opportunities, managing partnerships, and developing high-quality medical content.
Must Have
- Design, implement, and manage strategy for engaging medical societies and advocacy groups.
- Serve as primary contact for strategic society partnerships.
- Identify and secure new collaboration opportunities.
- Lead identification, mapping, and profiling of therapeutic area Key Opinion Leaders.
- Develop and execute compliant engagement plans for KOLs.
- Gather scientific, clinical, and market insights from KOLs.
- Conceptualize innovative medical communication deliverables across channels.
- Independently develop high-quality, scientifically accurate medical content.
- Demonstrate strong digital knowledge in medical education trends and platforms.
- Interact effectively with client Marketing/Commercial and Medical teams.
- Guide internal project teams as KOL and Society expert.
- Hold an MBBS / MD or advanced degree in a life science discipline.
- Possess 8-12 years of experience in Medical Communications or Medical Affairs.
- Proven track record in KOL/Thought Leader management and relationship development.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic partnership management with medical societies.
- Strong scientific understanding across multiple therapeutic areas.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building trust and rapport with stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

About the Role
The Manager, Society Partnership & KOL Management, is a critical role responsible for developing and nurturing relationships with medical societies and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to drive scientific communication strategies for our pharmaceutical and life sciences clients. This role requires a unique blend of strategic relationship building, scientific acumen, project conceptualization, and hands-on medical writing skills, as well as exceptional cross-functional communication with client Medical Affairs and Marketing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Society & Partnership Development
Strategy Development: Design, implement, and manage a robust strategy for identifying, prioritizing, and engaging with relevant national and international medical societies and advocacy groups.
Relationship Building: Serve as the primary point of contact for strategic society partnerships, ensuring alignment between the clients' objectives and the society's educational projects. Monitor and evaluate partnership performance, identifying new opportunities for strategic collaboration and continuous improvement.
Opportunity Identification: Proactively identify and secure new opportunities for collaboration, such as educational reprint & digital access rights from global societies.
Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, ensuring mutual value creation.
Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Management
KOL Identification & Profiling: Lead the systematic identification, mapping, and in-depth profiling of therapeutic area Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) relevant to client therapeutic areas and developing new print education products and to additionally support the MedEd business.
Engagement Strategy: Develop and execute tailored, compliant engagement plans (e.g., content co-creation) to foster genuine, long-term relationships based on client requirements
Insight Generation: Facilitate structured interactions with KOLs to gather critical scientific, clinical, and market insights for the client, translating these insights into actionable business opportunities
Medical Writing, Content Conceptualization & Digital Execution
Content Strategy & Concept: Conceptualize innovative medical communication deliverables across various channels (e.g., digital, print, in-person meetings) based on scientific data and KOL/society insights.
Hands-on Medical Writing: Independently develop high-quality, scientifically accurate, and compliant medical content.
Digital Product Conceptualization & Execution: Demonstrate strong digital knowledge of current trends, platforms, and innovative formats in medical education (e.g., webinars, podcasts, interactive tools).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Marketing/Commercial Liaison: Interact effectively with client Marketing/Commercial, Medical teams to ensure a consistent, aligned brand narrative, providing scientific input and ensuring promotional materials meet medical and regulatory standards.
Internal Team Leadership: Serve as the KOL and Society expert for internal project teams especially for the MedEd products for value addition, guiding strategy and ensuring seamless execution of all related tactics. Worked closely with the internal Business development teams to identify client requirements and develop specific tailored solutions.
Required Experience & Skills:
Qualification: MBBS / MD or advanced degree in a life science discipline (PhD, PharmD, MSc)
Experience:
Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in Medical Communications, Medical Affairs, or a relevant agency/pharmaceutical setting.
Proven track record in KOL/Thought Leader management and relationship development.
Demonstrated experience in strategic partnership management with medical societies or key stakeholders.
