Job Description

This role involves performing low-complexity repairs and routine preventative maintenance on manual to semi-automated manufacturing and packaging equipment. Responsibilities include providing emergency support to keep production lines operational, dismantling defective equipment, and installing new parts according to specifications. The technician will also handle basic automation tasks related to hardware and ensure all work complies with company policies and quality systems. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, hands-on repair abilities, and effective communication.
Must have:
  • Perform low-complexity repairs on manufacturing and/or packaging equipment.
  • Perform basic routine preventative and scheduled maintenance on production equipment.
  • Provide emergency support to repair production equipment to keep lines operational.
  • Dismantle defective and/or outdated equipment.
  • Build and install new/repaired parts or equipment according to blueprints, specifications, WIDs, and SOPs.
  • Perform simple automation tasks related to hardware.
  • Comply with company policy and BioFire Diagnostics’ Quality System.
  • Problem solve and troubleshoot technical issues/equipment.
  • Perform hands-on repairs using a variety of hand tools.
  • Interpret and follow blueprints, WIDs, etc.
  • Possess well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Work collaboratively and take direction from other team members.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency when carrying out critical tasks.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Pay close attention to details.
Good to have:
  • Associate degree in a scientific/technical discipline
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced cGMP environment
  • Previous hands-on maintenance experience
  • Basic experience with electrical systems
  • Basic experience with mechanical systems
  • Basic experience with pneumatics
  • Basic experience with documentation

Description

Primary Duties:

1. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Diagnostics’ Quality System.

2. Performs other duties as assigned.

3. Perform low-complexity repairs involving manual to semi-automated manufacturing and/or packaging equipment. Perform basic routine preventative and scheduled maintenance on manual to semi-automated production equipment, which may include the replacement of failed/broken components (i.e. bearing, belts, motors, etc.), cleaning and lubricating parts, etc.

4. Provide emergency support to repair production equipment in order to keep production lines operational at all times.

5. Dismantle defective and/or outdated equipment.

6. Build and install new/repaired parts or equipment according to blueprints, specifications, WIDs, and SOPs.

7. Performs some simple automation tasks as they relate to hardware.

8. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Diagnostics Quality System.

9. Other duties as assigned

Training and Education:

  • High School diploma and equivalent; Associate degree in a scientific/technical discipline is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in a directly related field/role. Previous experience in a fast-paced cGMP environment is strongly preferred. Previous hands on maintenance experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Demonstrate ability to problem solve and troubleshoot technical issues/equipment
  • Ability to perform hands on repairs using a variety of hand tools
  • Must be able to interpret and follow blueprints, WIDs, etc.
  • Must possess well-developed interpersonal skills and a willingness to work collaboratively and take direction from other team members
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to interface with all levels of the manufacturing organization and to carry out required documentation activities
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency when carrying out critical tasks
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Propensity for paying close attention to details
  • Basic experience with or exposure to the following is preferred:
  • Electrical systems
  • Mechanical systems
  • Pneumatics
  • Documentation

Working Conditions:

Ability to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and the like.

Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day.

Ability to operate heavy machinery.

Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
