We are currently looking for a Marketing Data Operations Specialist to take over responsibility for customer contact data extraction and list preparation. This role will support JetBrains’ Marketing, Business Development, and Legal teams by providing high-quality, legally compliant contact lists for various initiatives.
The position combines technical skills in data extraction with a strong understanding of marketing, sales data logic, and compliance requirements. It also involves contributing to process automation, improving data quality, and enabling scalable self-service solutions for the future.
Key responsibilities
Data extraction and list preparation:
- Prepare email and contact lists that contain customer names, email addresses, license statuses, product usage details, payment statuses, and more in response to internal requests.
- Support initiatives such as:
- Major updates (sunsets, price changes, policy updates, anti-piracy notices).
- Marketing communications (customer invitations, early access program announcements, campaign copy).
- Ensure all data requests are fulfilled accurately, in a timely fashion, and in line with all applicable legal requirements.
Stakeholder collaboration:
- Work closely with PMMs and RMMs, as well as Business Development and Legal teams, to clarify requirements.
- Act as the point of contact for data-related marketing requests.
- Document and refine requirements to ensure efficiency and compliance.
Compliance and data governance:
- Apply and enforce legal rules for various types of communication (opt-in requirements, GDPR compliance, anti-spam laws, data protection regulations, etc.).
- Ensure extracted lists are compliant with JetBrains’ internal policies and external regulations.
- Keep up to date with industry and legal changes impacting marketing communications.
Process optimization and automation:
- Leverage automation opportunities for standard exports to reduce manual workload.
- Contribute to developing self-service tools, blueprints, and data marts for recurring tasks.
- Collaborate with the JetBrains Data team to improve documentation and enhance the structure of sales and marketing data.
Qualifications and skills
Required:
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction.
- An understanding of B2B/B2C marketing workflows and the customer lifecycle.
- Knowledge of licensing models and product usage data logic.
- An awareness of data privacy and compliance regulations (GDPR, CAN-SPAM, and anti-spam laws).
- The ability to translate business requests into precise data queries.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and consistency.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to ensure data-driven marketing operations that support accurate segmentation, targeting, and campaign execution.
- The ability and desire to contribute to operational efficiency and scalable automation.
Nice to have:
- Experience with CDPs and CRM/marketing automation platforms.
- Exposure to data governance and self-service BI tools (e.g. Datalore, Looker, and Power BI).
- An understanding of automation for standard exports and scalable workflows.
