This role, Metrologist-Quality Control Engineer in Gloucester, MA, involves ensuring product quality by confirming dimensional characteristics, visual attributes, and functional operation. Key responsibilities include CMM programming, conducting inspections, maintaining tooling, communicating with suppliers, and driving continuous improvements. Must Have:
  • Ensure product meets all design requirements by confirming dimensional characteristics, visual / cosmetic attributes, functional operation and supporting documentation review.
  • Working level understanding of Metrology concepts including Blueprint layout & GD&T.
  • Working level and complex (independent) CMM programming.
  • Conduct CMM part setup and operation utilizing fixturing and probe calibration.
  • Utilize drawings and CAD models to validate supplier parts to print.
  • Conduct inspection of parts and packaging utilizing all standard tools and methodologies.
  • Maintain inspection tooling and equipment to ensure results reliability and repeatability.
  • Communicate methods of inspection to suppliers, including tools used, setup methods, and datum establishment for alignment and collaboration.
  • Act as a feedback conduit to design engineering for dimensioning and tolerancing on critical parts.
  • Provide feedback to suppliers to improve manufacturing methods.
  • Develop best-known methods for the supply base and internal metrology.
  • Capability to write procedures to document metrology methods and best-known methods.
  • Capability to prepare detailed technical reports and offer insights on measurement uncertainties.
  • Maintain measurement procedures and calibration records in accordance with ISO and quality standards.
  • Lead initiatives to digitize and automate metrology workflows, integrating IoT-enabled inspection tools and real-time data analytics.
  • Identify potential project candidates for continuous improvements and provides project support.
  • Provide Inspection guidance and support to Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Suppliers as required.
  • Act as a mentor for other Inspection team members.
  • Demonstrate conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles and application.

Key Responsibilities

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
